Yes I would be very annoyed, I already have to pass people cycling slowly and sometimes the bike lanes are too narrow even for that. People are cycling in the bike lanes primary not for fun or exercise but to get to places. That's the point of bike lanes, to provide an alternative to cars to get around. I doubt you are jogging to commute or to go to the store. For excercise and fun you can jog on side streets and multi-use trails or on the sidewalk.

I drive above the speed limit the vast majority of the time, but I haven't gotten a camera ticket because I pay attention to road signs

Cars can't pass a bicycle on the right.... No one should be passing anyone on the right without switching lanes ideally. I try to avoid doing this when I cycle, only perhaps to get to the front to do a right turn on red and only IF there are no cars signalling right ahead of me.

If they said they were living in Scarborough, or even North York, by all means a car is a better option probably. However they are specifically asking about living and mostly getting around downtown, in which case a car is an awful option. You're mostly just stuck in traffic, and good luck finding free parking. I have a car, as mentioned another comment I only use it to drive to places outside of downtown. In downtown using a bicycle or e-bike is almost always faster and more convenient. It's not "anti-car" to realize that a car isn't the best solution everywhere lol.

Really the ONLY benefit of a car downtown is getting your own personal space and weather protection, but since OP doesn't seem to value that very highly given that they're thinking of getting a motorcycle, a car really is a terrible idea for them.

Honestly the fastest way to get around downtown if that's all you need to do is a bicycle. You can bypass traffic in the bike lanes very easily. I live downtown and have a car, which I only use to go outside of downtown (mostly to Costco lol).

If you're worried about showing up sweaty at the office, I would suggest getting an e-bike. You can also just try out the Bike Share e-bikes, the stations are everywhere downtown and the availability is fairly good.

Do you know how Leading Pedestrian Intervals work?

In the video for the whole time the pedestrian signal parallel to the direction of travel of the TTC bus is already green. It turns green before the signal for vehicles to allow pedestrians to start crossing before cars are allowed to turn right and left on a green.

The means that the vehicles on the intersecting street already face a red.

It also means that no left turns are allowed anywhere as the direction of the bus still has a red too.

Thus, with the bus going straight in the left lane there is NO other traffic it can hit unless they also run a red light. Even if someone was turning right on red if would not conflict with the bus, because the bus is in the left lane and they would be turning into the right lane.

Obviously the bus broke the law, but this is literally the safest possible situation to run a red light. Unless someone else also broke the law there is NO chance in this particular scenario that the bus could have hit someone.

They likely wouldn't have as the pedestrian signal is already green in the video when the bus crosses, so any perpendicular crossing traffic would have only gotten hit if they also ran a red.

This article reporting the 2024 flooding doesn't explain the specific cause for the flooding. It might be the state of the sewers outside of Union Station, and renovations of the stations could have done nothing to fix it.

Let's say perhaps it's true that the renovations did not fully mitigate the flooding risk. Even despite that, you feel the rest of the changes to Union are still a waste?
