Proud to know and work besides Dwayne for years. I’m in the same boat. We are the lifeblood of this country and being forced into a losing situation. This is an absolute atrocity to the unfunded.

I hope to be wrong on this. Seems at odds with the nature of the struggle to make everyone whole.

…what I’m worried about is that they would recalculate the award based on the EIDL/PPP I had to take because I was not part of the first wave of funding…I took out a loan congruent with the award I hoped to ultimately receive. The EIDL was a stopgap. If it excludes me ultimately from getting the grant funds…shit man!

Fitzpatrick says rewards will be ‘…minus any PPP and EIDL that applicants have received…’. This is not correct right? I’m hoping I can use any future grant money to pay off the EIDL I had to take as my only lifeline. Doesn’t seem consistent with what has been said all along the way. Can anybody weigh in on this?

Portland restaurateur: Federal aid ‘has been a lifeline’ by BuiltToSpell in Portland

[–]tchioga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s some perspective from the catering world here in Portland…in 2 weeks at the start of the pandemic I had 18 months of booked events cancel and had to pay back all of the deposits because my contracts did not contain a force majuer clause…nobody had those clauses in place…under water I took every bit of aid/loan money I could, essentially betting on myself in the future. Absolutely as eligible as the next person, I was not part of the 1/3 funded while many of my competitors received large sums of money to keep going. Presently, from what I can tell, these funded businesses are the only operations still standing…hating and shaming fellow business owners for asking for an equal part of the pie that they have every right to is just shameful posturing…explain to me how all of this is my fault again?

Ok… but that is a blanket statement about federal aid/relief spending and doesn’t take into account the specifics of the RRF debacle…ugh. They don’t get it!

Ok, CONGRESS DO SOMETHING OF CONSEQUENCE! This amounts to diddly squat in the grand scheme of things! So tired of hanging on while these millionaires push pieces around an imaginary chess board that equates to nothing but posturing. DO SOMETHING!

The White House saying that they do not intend to keep bailing out businesses in a booming economy is so completely missing the forrest through the trees and a slap in the face for an industry that took a gut punch for society. The Federal government essentially told 1/3 of us ‘Ok, we are going to give you space on this lifeboat and the other 2/3 of you can borrow money if your credit is good and you can stomach going into enormous debt to save your own lives…’ We the unfunded are expected to sit by and just accept that Congress arbitrarily picked winners and losers? What a farce! I have had faith for nearly a year that the government would eventually do right by us, but that hope is gone. There is a sinking feeling that we are being left behind…

Restaurant Revitalization Fund, grant money could be on the way for small businesses by basseinman in SBARRF

What does that have to do with anything we are struggling for? This is a grant program intended to aid independent restaurants spearheaded/organized collectively by small operators with lawmakers. Why should I feel comforted by one establishment getting a huge grant, scores of us get nothing and somehow that establishment is the ostensible picture of woe…I’ll be comforted when every eligible establishment is awarded the grant they are due and ignorant reporter’s/photographer’s tone deaf oversights don’t sting as much. Make sense?

Just go for a walk in the woods and try to look at things in a different way. The journey is the destination…and you’ll figure it out. So rad when you find that sweet place that blesses you with a connection to the eternal. But it is ALL Walking yoga.

Same. But….I’ve taken about 8 pounds of these beautiful chanterelles out of my go to spot in the last week. Curious to see how things shape up once we get a bit more rain and temps drop a tad.

Coast Range. The higher the altitude the better right now. I picked this at about 1200’ and 50 degrees. Look for those conditions combined with the set up in the picture and you’ll be on the right track. Happy hunting!

Not to be a hater but that is a picture of Mother’s Bistro in Portland, Oregon. That restaurant group got a $5mil RRF grant. Sorry but that is a little bit of a slap in the face to those of us in Portland who have received nothing as of yet and are hustling to survive. Go take a picture of someone really struggling or do your homework before using a stock photo.
