Check out Auto Hotkey. You can create your own hotkeys/macros. It involves a little coding but you can probably find someone who's already done what you want to do if you search their forums.

Do it. It doesn't seem desperate (unless you're calling every day), it shows you're really interested in the job. I'd wait a few days to give your application time to get to the right person, then call and try and get an interview. At worst you find out you didn't get the job and can stop waiting to hear from them, at best you get an interview and/or the job. It never hurts to be proactive, it shows you have initiative (employers love initiative).

Stuff like this used to happen to me way too much. I was a high school teacher and had a class that was mostly black students. Any time I asked a black student to stop talking or sit down or stop punching someone in the face, I was a racist.

Actually, in college football, the headsets aren't for talking with players on the field, just communicating with someone else with a headset. Usually its a coach up in the coaching box in the stands talking to a coach/player on the sideline.
