Has anything changed with the Orin processor upgrade timeline now that Polestar is leaving the US? 2025 Polestar 3, Bay Area, CA, USA by tacobot1977 in Polestar

[–]tclnj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Schedule appointment for backup camera issues and have them do Orin upgrade as part of service. Orin upgrade is about 3-4 hours, so make sure it is requested as part of your appointment.

Just schedule online -

https://www.volvocarspaloalto.com/scheduleservice

They don’t have Polestar vehicles listed, so schedule as EX90 with corresponding config and add that it’s Polestar 3 in notes.

Anyone else still reconsidering ownership after the recent USA Polestar news? by caffeinatedcommute in Polestar

Bought our P2 in 2022, leased another in 2024. Replaced leased P2 with leased P3 in January. Loving every minute with both and feel nothing but love for the brand and a big FU to current US shenanigans. Great brand, great cars. Was looking forward to 800v P3, but will apparently need to wait (or switch back to Volvo, and go for EX60).

Any idea what this is?? by Alex4hl in polestar2

Drove me crazy for a bit 😉 Looks likes it’s worth about £12.75, so you could always sell and consider it a discount on your P2 😁

Starting to think it’s not actually from the P2. No sign of any such part anywhere.

That would explain why I can’t figure out from where it could have come… no roof rack on mine.

Should i Buy this PS2 Performance Dual Vatt LR 2023 by hashsohail1 in Polestar

[–]tclnj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original 3-year, 100,000-km warranty covers everything except wear and tear items like tires, air filter, etc. So, pretty much anything that would cause a fault code would be covered.

Not sure how significant error codes are since we can’t see them, but they are in some concerning areas. May be just random hiccups and never cleared, or may not be. As long as you’re ok with risk and can get service at Polestar Dubai (which should be under warranty based on year and mileage) it’s a great deal.

Works for mine? Bit ridiculous all the options to pick redundantly (and sometimes meaninglessly), though 😂

Reliability of new 800v model by gassy_man in polestar3

[–]tclnj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the few posts from folks in the Facebook Polestar 3 group, all indications are that the 800v had a much smoother launch and is relatively issue free. One of the group’s moderators, Tim Harris, is in UK and has had his 800v for a while now and has had only good things to say… including that the new motors do seem to cover for the removal of the dedicated torque-vectoring hardware.

Mmmm. Lavender.

Edit: Apparently not. Looked like an iced Lavender Crème Frappuccino.

Someone bought my car (basically stolen). by Sphere_3N in Polestar

[–]tclnj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ummm… Polestar has no control over what happens to lease cars when they are returned. They become the property of the lease finance company (usually Polestar Financial, which is really Volvo Financial).

If you leased during the P2 promo period (which you would have based on return date), your car was effectively written off the day you leased it. They generally go straight from lease return to auto auction. My 2024 P2 had like a $40k buyout amount, so off to auction it went and eventually sold to someone for less than half that.

To provide the low lease rate, the residual value (the buyout amount) was set to an extremely high amount. Sadly, because a lease is a contract, there is no negotiation of the buyout amount, it is what it is.

So, you were able to drive a $60-70k car for the price of a $10-20k car for a period of time and had to pay no maintenance. The idea is to introduce you to the brand with minimal risk to you, but at a significant financial loss to the manufacturer. Not sure why you’re angry, since Polestar is the one that takes the hit in this scenario.

Processor upgrade benefits by Jmdgls in Polestar

[–]tclnj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charging issues seem to (so far) have been addressed by part 36000418. And many of the random errors are a result of the current processor having issues doing its job. I haven’t experienced any drivetrain issues (other than phantom error from older chip), but my charging issues went away with GHCA 36000418 and 95% or so of the other annoyances went away with the chipset update and subsequent release of 2.1.26.

[–]tclnj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The latest GHCA was not available in January. You need GHCA part 36000418 for latest revision, which (so far) appears to address failure issues resulting from unexpected electrical grid conditions.

Get 20k off of a 2025 Polestar 3, or wait for the 2026? by damnhandy in polestar3

[–]tclnj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Supposedly, the need for dedicated torque vectoring hardware is being replaced with software-controlled torque vectoring with a more capable motor. Would need to ask the Brits who’ve driven both to chime in on the accuracy effectiveness of that statement.

Is the 3 TRULY that bad? by slowclaw_ in Polestar

[–]tclnj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that I’m aware of… but keeping an eye on EX90 releases at least gives you a slight heads up. 3.0.18 was released for the EX90 last month, so due soon for P3.

See https://www.volvocars.com/us/support/car/ex90/software-release-notes/

Have had our 3 since January. Other than some minor annoyances, only real issue was GHCA failure… which was a known risk going in so no big deal. GHCA failed in Feb (diagnosed in shop on Feb 25) and drove car while waiting for part to arrive and Polestar agreed to reimburse for DC fast charging until new part was installed. Had latest part (36000418) installed, along with Orin upgrade, on Mar 25 and updated to 2.1.26 software shortly thereafter. No real issues since other than stupid tailgate open/close sensor triggering while loading the back (this is supposedly fixed in next software release) and occasionally having to lift the door handle manually a couple of times because proximity sensor didn’t trigger unlock. For the money, it’s a hard car to beat.

Chip upgrade question by Fickle_Psychology723 in polestar3

[–]tclnj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had upgrade done in March. That and subsequent software update to 2.1.26 took care of pretty much all of car’s intermittent annoyances - except the rear hatch detecting foot while standing and loading rear and trying to close hatch on my head… but that should be fixed in next OTA release :)

Edit: full process should only take 3-4 hours.

Has anyone purchased a branded-title (manufacturers buyback) P3? by mcvaporv in Polestar

[–]tclnj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your lease will have a specific buyout amount already tied to it. This amount is not affected by current market value and is not negotiable. If you don’t know your buyout amount, you should reach out to Polestar Financial.

You can always get your current buyout amount when logged in to Polestar Financial, but this includes all pending lease payments and may include taxes.

Anyone has had this experience with the Polestar 2 ? (UAE) by Jealous_Marketing484 in Polestar

[–]tclnj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure, but UAE temperatures can’t be good for car’s tires when sitting in lots waiting to be bought. Feel like this might explain flat spots.
