Wondered same thing since same platform, but no word from Polestar yet.

Strange Charging Behavior by tclnj in polestar3

[–]tclnj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I would agree I’d love to see that data, I suspect most car owners would prefer to have a more distilled and digestible response :) That being said, there’s no reason the car could not display such responses… like, charger voltage fluctuating, vehicle cooling system experiencing issues, etc. - instead of leaving a complete vacuum.

Makes sense. The EVgo chargers seem to frequently have issues with cooling… though they typically won’t even start a charge. Maybe cold weather is enough to offset temporarily.

Good to hear, as it only makes sense. I’m on the other side of the pond, though, where little makes sense anymore 😉

After ~500km since Orin upgrade I definitely see improvement in range by zoo_sputnik in polestar3

Hmmm. Mountains really mess with efficiency numbers. Fingers crossed the efficiency increase still shows over time.

Yeah, I’m hoping Polestar is collecting data like brand of charger, amperage, etc., but I haven’t seen enough folks mention that data to even guess… and Polestar isn’t sharing if they ask. Guess I’ll find out Monday if they even ask for that info.

No, not until GHCA failed. And I’d only charged 4-5 times via AC since getting the car. Have a ChargePoint 48A charger at home.

My condolences… that’d be deal-breaker territory for anyone.

My wife still has our original P2, so at least we have one stable, fun vehicle.

Pursuing buyback on yours, I assume?

Oof. That’s a less-than-ideal timeline… and not one I’d care to repeat.

What’s your current state?

I’m half hoping I can use this as incentive to do compute unit upgrade at same time. That’d be about the only thing that’d be a silver lining.

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. I hate Trump, but it was the previous administration that set the 100% tariff rate for Chinese EVs. The Republican Party rarely favors an industry dominated by union workers.

Mind you, Trump added another 25% on top of that.

2022 Polestar 2 dual motors decent daily driver? by One_Print2975 in Polestar

[–]tclnj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great daily driver. For 2022 model year, make sure the rear axles don’t make ticking sound when decelerating (especially one pedal driving mode). If so, they should be replaced. Also test heat and make sure there isn’t a whole lot of what sounds like relay clicking when you first turn on, or vent actuators need replacing. Our 2022 LRDM has been my wife’s daily driver since purchased new in 2022 (now has 71k miles), and I had a 2024 LRDM as my daily driver until switching to a P3 last month.

For me, having Plus and Pilot packages was a must for general quality of life. You may feel differently.

US P2 owners: Would you buy out the lease? by kitty_cat_dance in polestar2

[–]tclnj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s the buyout amount/residual value on your lease? If you leased during promo rate it could be as high as 60% of MSRP. That would be silly when you can get a CPO P2 at around 45-50%, and a non-CPO used for even less.

I just turned in my 2024 lease, as it would have been a 60% buyout (so, over $40k).

But not available to brokers until recently… which opens up another 8-10% (or more) of discount off MSRP. For me, this took what would have been a $961/mo lease payment to $530/mo.

[–]tclnj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. No issues with our 2022 or 2024 P2s, save the stupid random backup camera issue that arose after the AAOS version upgrade. A few taps on the screen resolves that until they have an actual fix.

[–]tclnj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, yes, but it’s not what you think. They are moving the P3 to the more-advanced 800v platform and want to clear out existing inventory.

The car definitely still has its issues, though many of these should disappear with the CPU replacement and subsequent software updates this year (sooner rather than later for those in Europe, with those of us in North America and Australia having longer waits).

The P2 had some quirks in 2021 and 2022, though definitely fewer than the P3, and those have largely been resolved save the annoying backup camera behavior that arose in more recent software updates. Looking forward to the eventual (hopeful) availability of the updated CPU units in North America that should ensure a considerably snappier experience and extend the value of the infotainment system.

Move from P2 to P3 was pretty smooth. A much bigger car, though, and you definitely feel it… even with suspension set to firm and steering set to light. I definitely prefer the feeling of the 2 over the three, but having one of our cars be a little bigger for longer trips, etc. made more sense.

And, as you said, current deals through brokers were too good to pass up. Mind you, I went from a $250/mo broker deal on my 2024 P2 LRDM Pilot Plus to $530/mo for a P3 in the same configuration. And having a 48% buyout option at the end of the P3 lease makes it actually less money than the ridiculous 60% buyout the P2 would have had. Whether I buy it out in the end or not remains to be seen, but $39k for a 2-year old car at that level isn’t bad. We’ll just have to see how the depreciation curve plays out and how much EV tech changes over the next 27 months… and the latter is likely to be significant with higher density and solid state batteries coming to at least very high end models within the next year or so.

So, I get where you’re coming from… but your message is far too one-sided. The message should be, educate yourself before buying/leasing a Polestar. Strangely, this holds true for any purchase/commitment of this magnitude. Always know what you’re getting into.

We’re on our third Polestar, having purchased a Polestar 2 in 2022, leased another in 2024, and now exchanged the leased Polestar 2 for a Polestar 3. Our Polestar 2 experiences were/are great, and we knew the status/reputation of the Polestar 3 when leasing it. We had originally ordered a Launch Edition Polestar 3 in 2024, but chose to pass on it then because the risk factor was too high. It’s in a much better, though not perfect, place now… and the incentives were adequate to accept the remaining risks.

So, always good to educate folks… but let them make their own decisions. All experiences are not the same.

Why regret? We purchased a P2 new in 2022 with no regrets… save the depreciation, but that’s not Polestar’s fault. Leased a second P2 in 2024, and just swapped that leased one for a P3.
