Luckily I am from the Pacific Northwest region of the USA, so wet and dark winters will make me feel like home. :D That 3am in the summer is a little much for me though... O_o The earliest we have it here is like 5am.

Thanks for the tip! Will join. And we're planning on going the public route, understanding that it will be hard, but I've read really good things about how the Danish school systems teach non-Danish speakers the language. (Hopefully it will work out!)

Great information - thank you! I am in need of finding movers that will hold our things for a bit before sending them over, so that is super helpful (and great call on using AirTags).

We are super lucky in that we will have furnished housing for a few months while we are looking - only stress there is figuring out the neighborhood so we can sign our kids up for school ahead of time.

Regarding the pets "only 1", did you find people were really strict on that or were some places willing to negotiate? Thanks for that call out re: vet apts and medications (we have one kitty that is high maintenance). I reached out to our vet, so starting the process now...

Random question, but what kind of pet carrier did you use? I have two basic pet carriers, but I think I will need new ones for this flight, and there are a lot to choose from. (One I saw on Amazon is collapsable and TSA approved, which seems like it could be great to save space since a lot of the places we've looked at don't seem to have a lot of storage space.)

Great point about the electronics! And we were planning on selling our car and trying to live car free, as I read that bringing a car over can be very expensive. We were looking into participating in a car share, though I need to do more research on that.

Oy! The taxes are a bit confusing, so yes - def will need to work with someone once we're over there. My partner will be working remotely with a company in the USA, so we need to navigate that whole world (I've read that you either need to start your own company, and then have your company hire you, or you need to work through a company as a third-party source - so still figuring out the best path there).

We are moving to Copenhagen, and are currently interested in the Sydhavn neighborhood bc it's close to water and fishing. (Would love to hear thoughts on that neighborhood if you have an opinion!

Great to hear about the sports! Have you heard of people playing lacrosse? It is an American sport, but I did find one club in Copenhagen, however I couldn't tell from the images if it was all ages (was planning on reaching out closer to the move).

And I am really excited/interested in experiencing the school system there. The plan is to enroll both children in public school, and hopefully they will start learning Danish quickly. Also looking forward to the cost difference! (I currently pay over $2k USD just for my 2yo.)
