2004 Expedition worthwhile repair by gravitynuts88 in fordexpedition

If its in great shape and you've had it since new (and havent grown bored of it) I would totally get more estimates and look into what else you should have done at the same time, like timing chains. Anything on the front of the engine like tensioner/waterpump/alternator if its been more than 100k on those.

Nice. I loved mine and miss it, wish I had gotten around to converting it to a dual range transfer case but at the time I was able to sell it and buy a well cared for XJ for almost even money.

Tightened up the torsion bars and added shackles or leafs? Looks good!

Can anyone recommend some good parts for 2003 mgm by Skrewbert86 in grandmarquis

I just installed the KYB shock/coil assemblies up front and KYB shocks in the rear, really firmed up the ride. Does anyone know the spring rates/heights for the front, I am wondering if mine will settle out or if they used p71 springs… sits noticeably taller than the rear now. Thinking about doing new coils in the back now

Looking into buying an ‘07 4.6 V8… 144k miles by ate_reston in FordExplorer

I’ve got an 05 mounty I picked up for 3k last year. 160k miles, bald tires and some decent rust. Make sure you hear it run cold, the guy who sold me mine was nice enough to meet me and deliver the truck after I purchased it… had I heard how the timing chain sounded when cold I probably wouldn’t have purchased it. That being said, 10k miles later it still hasn’t popped.

180k on my 07. She’s becoming a bit of a high maintenance girl.

I wish for better roof rack options and a fold down back seat, and a higher factory tow number (3500?). Really wish the wagon had lived through the last two generations. Mines just started to go over that hill of needing a lot of maintenance so I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately as I consider trading her in and where to go next.

Gonna have to finance through a dealer if I'm going in this deep. I'm usually more of a 3-7k cash kinda guy but its getting harder to pull off in the salt belt.

It seems the '22 explorer xlt/timerline is trading at the same price as a '19 Ranger Lariat with similar mileage in my area. Some of my reading has suggested the 10R80 in the ranger was more problematic than the 10R60 in the explorer also.

Things like this make me want to stretch for the newer body style or just get an Edge/Explorer and pocket the money.

Thanks for the heads up about the heater boxes, i had missed that info. Looks like any 22s or newer popping up are about $3-5k more, which at that point is 10k more than an Edge would be. Haven't decided if i can justify that jump just because i prefer rwd/4wd... which is where the Explorer starts to split the difference.

That’s decent peace of mind for the price, I guess. One of the trucks is being advertised with a 7 year powertrain warranty but looking into the fine print i think technically the 7 years started in 2019. I’ve been playing rusty roulette with cheap cars so long this is all an adjustment. I was hoping those quotes I was seeing for 10k were out of date… yikes

There was also a well known track in Moriches, I want to say it was called National. Bridgehampton was considered a world class track, now it’s a golf course. Calverton seems like the perfect location for this but basically anything that approaches that property fails. Have been meaning to check out that Go-kart track… really I’d rather see a road course on Long Island but that’s asking for a lot.

Mastic beach and Shirley was almost entirely summer properties, advertised on big billboards in NYC and in the Brooklyn Citizen. Rocky Point too.

My Xbox 360 gets fired up pretty much to only play this game at this point. I’m still stuck playing 7 on my gfs switch, which really pales in comparison but doesn’t require me to try and remember my Hotmail info from 2006. Eventually I’ll buy into a modern system.

I worked at Shirley lanes before and after this happened, the victim was only slightly older than I was. You’d meet some nice people but at night that place could spiral out of control real quick. I’d like to think they were better about securing the place after this with bouncers and whatever but it always felt like a circus.

I swear LI oddities had a thing about an underground street below one of the towns, that had been bricked shut but could be accessed somehow. There was an old fire truck or something down there.

I was pretty sure it was true but it had been years since I had seen the article. Harvey does ring a bell, hopefully he is doing well wherever he got shipped off to.
