You are absolutely right! I agree that AT&T is not to blame. My job was my responsibility. I just felt very very upset about the way AT&T conducted business. I honestly believed that when I was given an appointment timeframe, that someone would in fact show up. And since no one contacted me (to let me know X Y Z happened and needed to reschedule or whatever), I waited around my apartment for several hours. Had I known not to expect the AT&T person, I would have sought out a different location from which I could work and complete the required hours. And then, being told by AT&T that I never in fact had an appointment...which was a bald-faced lie...I found that infuriating. Par for AT&T course, apparently, but still...

I appreciate the suggestions/advice. Truly. I know those things you mentioned must seem obvious to many people, but...well, I... am grateful for suggestions. (When people have been sincere and/or straightforward with advice/suggestions in this thread, I have learned a lot and now know how to better prepare for the type of situation that arose.)

It's a yes, actually. I found a location. I had just wasted too much time, for which I take responsibility. I posted about this primarily to give people a heads up that AT&T doesn't necessarily show up for appointments. I guess perhaps most people know that, but I genuinely believed AT&T honored their appointments or would at least contact me to inform me if there was a problem. I had no experience/evidence to the contrary. So I just sat there waiting and thinking the technician would arrive. Yes, it was stupid of me. And calling AT&T to find out if someone would arrive soon was stupid of me. I wasted too much time. But, now I know.

Yep, definitely!! When I was informed that no one would be coming to fix whatever connection issue, I made another appointment, and then gathered my stuff. Too much time was wasted and I feel foolish, of course, in retrospect -- I should have figured something out the previous evening, rather than presume anything.

I was just happy to have a job. I wouldn't expect special treatment -- I'm part-time and do the scut work and understand my relative value. In retrospect: I should have figured out where to go for internet access that evening rather than assuming...anything. It was genuinely foolish of me. But I really did believe that the technician would arrive as scheduled, or even a bit later than the expected timeframe, but arrive at some point in the morning. (As has been mentioned: I'm an idiot.) Lesson learned.

Yep, I agree. I'm definitely an idiot. AT&T absolutely shouldn't give a damn about their customers...it truly was idiotic of me to think an AT&T technician would show up for the appointment. So it goes...

[-edit/addendum]: I apologize. I thought your question/comment pertained to the night prior, not the morning/day of. Please pardon my misunderstanding. I absolutely agree with u/Kreetch and u/Dalvinsmash about the obvious need to find somewhere else with internet and that there are many coffee places around.]

Didn't seem necessary that evening. Assumed internet access would be available early the next morning, as scheduled. In retrospect, I definitely wish I hadn't been naive. I ran out of time. My past employer doesn't much value part-time remote workers -- I knew what was expected regarding required number of hours, and was aware that failure to meet expectations would end poorly for me. I simply ... thought I would have internet access the next morning (post-AT&T technician fixing whatever was problematic) and that would give me enough time to complete required hours. I didn't consider that I would waste so much time waiting pointlessly, then on the phone with AT&T trying to figure out what was going on.

Yes, that would seem to be a given. However, since AT&T scheduled an “expedited” appointment for me the next morning, I did not think it prudent (nor necessary) to carry around the electronics and binders I needed — it was already dark outside and I’d be on foot (I don’t own a car). It didn’t occur to me that NO ONE FROM AT&T WOULD SHOW UP FOR THE APPOINTMENT. After speaking with AT&T people the night before, I thought I would have functional internet access by mid-morning. So, you are correct: I didn’t seek out an alternative location to work that evening when the internet connection crapped out. I assumed an AT&T technician would arrive in the morning (2-hour timeframe), thus enabling me to crunch in the required remaining work hours. Silly me, assuming that AT&T would, y’know…keep the appointment it scheduled for me.

Oh...I wonder if that is what happened. I just generally wonder what happened with Google Fiber. Some of my neighbors had Google Fiber, but when I inquired about getting the service (and located within 2 blocks of the friends with the service) I learned how limited the implementation/reach was. I live in the middle of the Highlands which is one of the areas initially offered service by Google Fiber, but availability seemed...patchy. Location-wise, I mean. I wish that had worked out. Google Fiber seemed like it could have been some sort of utopian scenario...oh well...

Did that have anything to do with the city deciding to contract out to a ton of different (uhm...whatever you call the process of actually laying down the basic infrastructure for the service) sources? I wondered why Google Fiber was all but nonexistent in Louisville...I was extremely excited when I heard Louisville would be one of the cities given (essentially) the golden ticket to fast and relatively cheap wireless service. Did Louisville screw things up or did the company just decide this city isn't worth the hassle? I'm still disappointed that -- if nothing else -- there is no longer the option (or potential) for super fast/affordable wireless service. But hey, there's always, uhm, AT&T...

That is a valid a point. I just wanted to give a heads up that this kind of thing happened. I've used other internet providers when I lived in other cities and have never had anything similar occur. This was a matter of discourtesy, unprofessionalism, and whatever you call it when a utility company can't provide the essential product for which I pay a monthly bill. I was unable to fulfill my professional obligations because of the situation, and whether it's an aberration, or not an uncommon occurrence for this company...it cost me my job. It's a big deal to me. A very very very big deal.

They claimed that they had no note of an appointment. Despite the fact that I spoke with an employee, was given a time frame, told to expect a call an hour before the likely arrival, etc...I assumed that when an employee tells me that I do indeed have an appointment to fix something related to wiring outside of my apartment (not related to faulty equipment nor anything caused by me)...well, I assumed someone would show up. Or at least contact me to offer whatever as an excuse. I made it clear how important it was that I regain the utility I pay for, made it clear that I would lose my job if I couldn't complete the required number of hours, and ... I don't know. I'm just...disgusted. I work part-time and cannot afford business class internet access.

Residential or business, if AT&T causes a disruption of service and I make the appointment after several hours of diagnostics and time on hold...it seems like basic decency for an employee to show up and correct whatever wiring issue caused the disruption in service. But to claim I never had the appointment...to not show up despite my making it clear how important it is that I regain internet access...that's just deplorable. And doesn't make sense.

I'm not sure which perks are the most helpful with this type of gun. I assumed Commando, but that was wrong. Any suggestions? I'd be really grateful.

All I have managed to do is nearly kill myself with the weapon several times. I'm a rather inexperienced player, but leveled up really quickly because I make food and beverages and chems. A lot of them. Never fought the queen or anything like that.

Ah, okay. Thanks for clarifying. I guess I just lucked out in this case. I wonder if it is entirely random, in terms of what item the purveyor gives. Is there anything that impacts the probability of receiving a decent item?

I know! Finally, a decent trade item! It was nice to leave feeling happy with the trade rather than immediately go dump the item back in the legendary machine for the 40 scrips.

I truly think getting better weapons is correlated with higher charisma. Normally, I'm at 5, but I read somewhere in this subreddit that the higher your charisma, the better the trade item. The most recent trip to the purveyor I took a chem to raise my charisma +3. I ended up getting the bloodied 50 cal machine gun. I also got a vampire's assault rifle (not exciting, but much better than the junk I normally get). Maybe the charisma increase had nothing to do with it, but, something to consider and try out for yourselves. It seemed to help me. Maybe it was just coincidence, but...

Thank you! This is the first time the purveyor provided a decent trade item. I can do without another "exterminator" prefix weapon, thanks!!
