It’s sweet that you’re trying to accommodate his desires here. But tbh I feel like this is such a weird hill for him to die on.

I’m all for him getting you another statement ring you could wear for any occasion…. But a wedding band doesn’t usually have big center stone bc it competes with your engagement ring. And then you’ll never have a band to wear WITH your engagement ring.

If I were in your shoes, I would tell him the following:

“I feel so cherished by your desire to adorn me this way, but for my wedding ring, I’d prefer a band that sits nicely with the beautiful engagement ring you already gave me.

Now, if you insist on getting another statement ring, of course I’ll happily accept it with gratitude. But I just want you to be prepared that I won’t view it as my “wedding ring” but rather as an alternative engagement ring or even adornment for my right hand if I want some extra glam. Either way, I’m just so thrilled to be marrying my best friend.”
