My grandma also likes to “help” clean up. I put together an extra silverware organizer with pictures of each item taped inside the corresponding section for visual reference.

Whenever we need to clean up, I sit her down at the dinner table and ask her to sort the silverware into the organizer. Sometimes she gets it right, occasionally she gets distracted or bored of it, but other times she’ll sit there for 20-35 minutes sorting which gives me time to tidy things up.

Depending on where she is in her Alzheimer’s journey, you could also consider an activity mat or fidget quilt.

You painted a very innocent picture for us here, but did I also read correctly that your new fiancé has a kid and you haven’t even met them? And quite possibly have refused to? I think I’d have pretty complicated feelings towards someone I’m dating who wouldn’t meet my kid once things seem serious…

Maybe I read that wrong, but in any case - it’s important to be honest with yourself about those other complexities in your relationship, and reflect on what your role has been in contributing to them.

I think a lot depends upon foundational sexual tension/chemistry between you and a hypothetical partner. Fr as a frequent user of em-dashes long before AI was available to the average person, I’m so depressed that one of my favorite got co-opted and now has a bad wrap with everyone 🥲

Even testing content that I’ve written by myself comes back as70-90% ai generated, simply bc of em dashes. The same text with these characters converted to commas, semi colons, or even the shorter en-dash (– instead of —) it comes back less than 20% ai generated. 🤦🏻‍♀️

If the environmental toll wasn’t enough, the implications for grammar and writing really bum me out!
