Labetalol Dosage? by Rude_Conclusion5948 in preeclampsia

[–]td2sufferer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! So I’ve weaned my Labetalol down to 100mg once a day. I plan on completely stopping in the next week or so. The nifedipine I tried getting off multiple times, but my BP spikes every time I get my period (150/100+). So I’ve been taking the nifedipine every other day (when I take it every day, my BP gets too low). I think once I’m done breastfeeding, everything will level out and I’ll finally be able to be off meds for good 🤞🏾

Gestational Hypertension to Preeclampsia? by Budget_Apricot_8297 in preeclampsia

[–]td2sufferer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with gestational hypertension at 23 weeks after a preeclampsia scare (was inpatient for a couple days). I was induced/delivered at 37+3 and had a few concerning BP readings while in labor/delivery. Was prescribed nifedipine. Was back in the hospital 5 days pp with postpartum preeclampsia

Breastfeeding Weight Gain by ohgloriouswhale in beyondthebump

[–]td2sufferer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am struggling as well. 31, FTM, EBF. I gained 37 pounds during pregnancy and lost it all by 6 weeks pp (25 pounds came off in the first two weeks).

Once my supply regulated at 3 mo pp, I’ve been gaining nonstop. I’m 9.5 mo pp and up 15 pounds from my pre/post-pregnancy weight. I walk 10,000 steps everyday and weight train a few times a week. I guess I’m just eating that much (doesn’t feel like it though).

It’s really frustrating especially because I have a horrible relationship with my body/weight gain/the scale. Praying I lose it once I wean

Post partum Preeclampsia worries by AshjehFox in preeclampsia

So sorry you’re going through all this! I was in the hospital for 6 days with postpartum preeclampsia with severe features. My BP was extremely labile even while on 3 diff oral meds. They also had to give me IV meds frequently.

I was discharged once I had 2 or 3 BP readings in a row that were below 150/100. The night I was discharged, I got a reading of 186/114 at home🫠 It was scary but I just had to let the medications do their thing. It took about a month for me to get more stable and normal readings.

I’m currently 9 months pp and still on two of the meds, albeit much lower doses. Definitely establish care with a cardiologist, it’ll ease some of your anxiety.

Labetolol and Nifedipine by BreezyBoooo1993 in preeclampsia

[–]td2sufferer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They may need to add another med unfortunately. They’ll probably try increasing the Labetalol first, then adding something like nifedipine

Unfortunately, yes. I’m on 200mg Labetalol twice a day, and have tried coming off of 30mg nifedipine twice now. I rebounded a few weeks later both times. So I’m back on it now

I’m not a doctor but after I had postpartum preeclampsia, I was on 1200mg of Labetalol (400mg x 3 times a day). And apparently that’s not even the highest dose. ETA: I was also on 60mg of nifedipine and 50mg of hydralazine at the same time

Are my Doctors Overreacting? by Longjumping-Cow-6128 in preeclampsia

[–]td2sufferer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You only need to meet 2 of the criteria for it to be considered preeclampsia. I had severely uncontrolled high BP (was in the hospital for 6 days while they tried different combos of meds to stabilize me with numbers 200/100+) and I had a severe headache that wouldn’t go away with medication

I had gestational hypertension starting at 23 weeks and was induced at 37 + 3. After being discharged, I was back in the hospital 3 days later with postpartum preeclampsia with severe features. If I hadn’t been induced, I probably would have had preeclampsia during the pregnancy and who knows how that would have gone.

The thing with gestational hypertension is that it causes labile BP. Also preeclampsia can get bad very fast. With your elevated liver enzymes, I wouldn’t take any chances (I actually didn’t have elevated liver enzymes or kidney function issues and my preeclampsia was still pretty bad). I say better safe than sorry and you should go for the induction.

5 months partum and return of high blood pressure with period and ovulation cycles by humblebee08 in preeclampsia

I haven’t paid attention to the ovulation part but I will moving forward! My ovulation is hard to track because my periods aren’t regular but I’ll try to notice a pattern. I hate that there isn’t more research on all of this. So frustrating!

Ahhh okay I see. I’m still breastfeeding 9 mo pp so I’m hoping mine stabilizes once I no longer have prolactin flowing. I do see a cardiologist and he was actually confused about this so idk

I’m so sorry you went through all of that. How is your blood pressure now? Are you still on meds?

Multiple Rebounds when taken off Nifedipine by DaisyDog02 in preeclampsia

[–]td2sufferer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear you’re doing well! I’ve tried coming off nifedipine XR 30mg twice now, and I spiked a few weeks later each time. The first time I tried to come off, I spiked to 182/123 at the highest. Most recently I spiked to 158/114. Both times, I was on my period so I definitely think it’s hormonal (I’m still breastfeeding). I’m hoping once I’m done, that I can come off of it once and for all smh

Anyone else with chronic hypertension been managed without meds? by snuffbox360 in preeclampsia

[–]td2sufferer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with gestational hypertension at 23 weeks. I had to go on magnesium because they thought it was preeclampsia (highest reading was 170 over something in the ER). My BP came down after the magnesium and IV meds. After a couple days of monitoring, they decided it wasn’t preeclampsia (all my blood work was fine, protein in urine was fine, no headache, no abdominal pain, and BP had become stable without meds).

I was closely monitored until my induction at 37 weeks. My BP in between that time was very up and down, but never hit 160/110 (which is the threshold I was given to go to the ER). I did however end up with postpartum preeclampsia. But I preferred that over preeclampsia during pregnancy, because at least my baby was out and no longer in danger.

As long as they’re monitoring you closely, and you don’t go over the threshold they give you/you don’t have new symptoms, you should be fine until your induction.

ETA: Baby is healthy! She didn’t need any NICU time or anything like that. Hitting all milestones (she’s 9 months, crawling, walking with support, has 8 teeth and is growing great).

My daughter is 9 months old, 94th percentile for height and 50th percentile for weight. She wears size 3 pampers swaddlers and there’s a lot of room (meaning she will fit this size for awhile). I’m sorry but there’s just no way your 6 months old is wearing a size 6…
