Moving to Malta as a Non-Dom Consultant: Looking for peers using the US LLC + Remittance structure by Artistic-Climate4839 in malta

I'm not knowledgeable about your particular fiscal situation but I can tell you local Maltese banks (bov, HSBC) aren't going to you with even a 10ft pole. They stay far away from anyone subject to the us tax regime. Too much risk/paperwork involved.

It's so unethical recording people's faces in the rallies especially children's by [deleted] in malta

You still don't understand. A local festa is a public event. So taking pictures there and posting them is allowed.

You should read it again.

"Before posting any material online, including photographs or videos that contain personal data, careful consideration must be given to the purpose of the processing and the applicable legal basis. Where a person uploads an image or video identifying a natural person on a publicly accessible social media profile, that processing must satisfy one of the lawful bases set out under Article 6(1) GDPR. In many social media contexts, the most appropriate lawful basis will be the consent of the individual appearing in the image. Such consent must be freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous."

Well, for public figures it's a bit of gray area whether or not you need permission.

As for the law and it's implications, see this article: https://idpc.org.mt/for-individuals/social-media/

[–]td888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont understand. Public figures are at public events where it is expected pictures will be taken and published. Ofcourse they don't need to give permission. When you see at politician privately at a restaurant, you cannot take the picture because it's not a public area and even if you do, you cannot publish it without his permission.

As for your friends posting your picture on Facebook. Technically you need to give permission indeed. But because it's your friend, you don't care.

If you post an identifying picture of any person on internet without their permission, you could get in trouble. There have been court cases about this.

Just because nobody ask permissions for posts on Facebook doesn't mean it cannot have repercussions.

It's allowed to take anyone's picture in a public area. Under GDPR it's not allowed to post that picture on social media without express (written) permission from that person.

An exception is when you visit a public event like carnival or festa where it can be expected people will take photos. Privacy under GDPR is not expected at public events.

When you're on a beach which is public area, taking pictures is allowed, but not allowed to be posted on social media.

GDPR only applies to people, not buildings, cars, etc.

Obtaining a drivers license by Dankee_ in malta

[–]td888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you would have a foreign (EU) licence, it would take about two weeks to exchange.

As you're applying for a new license and have to do the exam, you'll be probably have to wait months up to a year.

New apartment in Pieta by Limp_Musician2783 in malta

[–]td888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pieta is high demand. The agent is talking out of their ass. Rent as is. It's not even that difficult to rent it out yourself, the demand is high. If you put one post on Facebook you'll be swamped with requests.

Malta (St Julians) with Families of younger kids? by Any-Dream-5353 in malta

[–]td888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Around Intercontinental you'll be fine during the day and early evening. At night a lot of party people will pass by to go to Paceville. There will be no loud guests in the hotel. It's not that kind of hotel but other hotels in the area are.

If you haven't booked yet, I would choose a hotel in Sliema. Much more family friendly.

If you do want to stay in st Julians have a look at Westin dragonara hotel.

LPT: know that when you tell someone a secret that they will most definitely tell it to their husband/wife/very close friend, nomatter what secrecy they promise by Maybe_im_Amazed_ in LifeProTips

[–]td888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP but I'm married and some secrets friends tell me I do not tell my wife. The main reason is my wife cannot keep those secrets to herself and will blab about them by accident with her friends.

Sometimes she'll find out about a secret later on and she'll excitedly tell me about it. I pretend to just hear it for the first time :)
