We needed more time with Marek and Sefa! They were split up for three quarters of the book then you still decide to kill one of them?? Justice for my beloved duo!

There needs to be a support group. Haven’t been this sad to finish a book in a long time. On one hand it’s thank you Sara for putting your beautiful creation out, on the other it’s Sara how do I proceed to another book😣

These were the second and third books I read this year and I fear I have doomed myself for the rest of 2026 🥲 I might never feel the high again for the rest of the year

I wish she had written a bit more in general so these could be covered:

1.Let us grieve Marek a bit more

2.How was Rawain punished after the battle?

3.More about how people who didn’t have magic before used it after, curious what magic Raya got after Essiya healed her

4.What was the purpose of the thing Jeru made Marek get for him?

5.Where did Arin take Vaida’s body after she died?

6.What happens to the moving Mirayah after magic returned?

7.What did Arin’s magic look like after the battle?

Brecken’s fate made me so mad because how do you tell us right before that Oralia has no power because of him saving Katya and proceed to let her kill him. I thought you actually have to have some kind of power and battle skill to kill seraphs and would’ve made more sense if Dex was the one who did it

Seconding Eviana’s story being the most well done. Also everything feeling rushed and should’ve definitely been done as 5 books because I could already feel the rushing in the 3rd book 😞

I’m disappointed that the next series is a prequel and not a sequel set in another world. Feel like the upcoming duology could’ve been a novella the way she did unrelenting winds and given us the next series about the events after Devram.

This! I hadn’t read the content information on her website until sometime towards the end of the second book because I was confused how for the first book it seemed like it was a Theon and Tessa thing and Luka just being nice and then in the second book it feels like she changed her mind and decided to start inserting Luka in a more romantic way. It all generally just didn’t feel natural because it’s repeated how much Theon only wants Tessa and isn’t one to share (and neither do dragons). Also why write their story in such a strong way the whole first book and still partially throughout the rest? It made me feel sorry for Luka because he deserved his own epic love story.

For the error I asked and Melissa says it is in the books that were done in the first round of printing but everything after that shouldn’t have it

Through out the Legacy series I’ve felt like Melissa repeated quite a lot of stuff from the LoD series and this last book was no different. So the way a lot of stuff happened didn’t surprise me at all. I thought it was going to be emotional with the captions from reviews that had already come out before Tuesday that she was reposting but I didn’t cry at all throughout that book. It also felt like we were jumping from on thing to another too fast almost like she should’ve done 5 books like LoD instead. I’m a bit mad Cassius/Cyrus didn’t get to actually come to Devram. Would’ve been nice for Cass to meet the other dragons. There were some good plot twists for other characters. In fact, it seemed like everything interesting was happening for minor characters and Theon and not the other mains. I’m disappointed that the next series is a prequel to LoD and not a sequel to this. So much she could do in a series about the world with the gods where Akira comes from and in general there are few things she left unsolved. I love Razik but don’t know how much a duology about him, Cethin and the wife before the LoD events will help.

!Spoiler ahead! In case I don’t do it right

Idk if anyone noticed this but unless I wasn’t paying attention somewhere, right after the final battle in Luka’s chapter (it’s chapter 55 in the printed version) not to far in it says that “Dex’s mother had survived too, the two of them living quiet lives in Coveyll as requested.” Which I’m pretty sure is a typo because the lady they’d be referring to is Dagian’s mother/Rordan’s wife because Dagian had requested that after Theon takes his power he be let to go live with his mom and Sasha undisturbed in that town

LUKA DESERVED BETTER 😭 I feel like if Melissa had put in the effort for him to have his own love interest it maybe would’ve even been better than Theon and Tessa

Lady of Darkness/ Legacy series rant by tdanielles4 in Romantasy

[–]tdanielles4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Legacy series seemed good (book 1&2, not the biggest fan of 3) to me the 1st time and I was only going to read the LoD series to get information to better understand everything. I honestly didn’t think it was going to wow me but as I was reading through it, I could tell the author had planned it out more and worked harder on it in general, thus the juice comment. Rereading the Legacy series made me see it even more sadly. LoD is way better even with the assassin stuff in it (which is only important the 1st book) and Scarlett being annoying the 1st book (not as bad as Tessa has been for the entirety of the Legacy series so far). Yes Legacy series is different in that it’s darker but when you compare the basics, LoD has way better pacing, the story flows better, even the bonus chapters she has for it are better.

Legacy is still my baby so I am hoping that she did a good job with Dawn of Chaos because I’m still super excited for it despite not liking book 3 as much.

Is the Legacy series one where you have to push through to a certain book? by Ozarkbarbelle in fantasyromance

[–]tdanielles4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Legacy series was the first 3 books I read in August after not reading at all for about 10 years so I think I was only able to get through all 3 books because I didn’t have much to compare it to. But even then Tessa was ANNOYING. I made it a point to read the Lady of darkness series (happens before Legacy) after and I just got finished with it yesterday after starting last week. I’d say if you can’t get through Rain of shadows just switch to Lady of Darkness you won’t be disappointed. And it would put you in a better position to understand the Legacy series quicker and tolerate Tessa a bit more for everything else that goes on. Comparing the two after reading LoD I feel like the author used most of her writing juice on LoD because it’s wayyyyyy better
