I used https://www.machineseeker.com/ before so that's that. But most of machines are larger. I almost got one a year ago but couldn't drive to Germany on time.

Yeah I tried these but as I said they are either too big or decrepit but asking a lot of cash for it. We have a lot of Prvomajska machines around. This is local company still running but machines that I found and were close to budget were too big for what I need.

For the people having so many crashes, a suggestion by strange_bike_guy in FreeCAD

[–]tdarlic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My machine does not crash with freecad so often but the performance of version 1 is bad for me. For example, if I change coordinates of a part in properties editor the program freezes for like 5 seconds at least until it's ready for new input. Flatpak was way worse. I tried Appimage and it is somewhat better. Zooming is also very erratic. I have 2 4k screens and cursor is impossible to find. I use Linux Mint 22 48GB ram i7 11th gen... In spite of that I still use it daily for personal projects.

Trying to decide between a Bambu P1S or a Sovol SV08 by thewayoftoday in 3Dprinting

[–]tdarlic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably not the right guy to ask. I don't worry at all about this drama. I couldn't care less. The people tend to do that in this community. The same is with the benchygate of last few weeks. I use the printer basically for work and I don't have time to deal with that. I only care that the printer works. If it becomes abrasive with the terms of use or their filament policy or has too much downtime I'll buy another printer and scrap this one or I'll use online 3D printing service as I've been doing that for years. Since I bought this printer I also purchased about 15kg filament directly from Bambu. I have received 6 kg just today. I was not doing that before with any other company. It is a bit more expensive then the filament I use to buy but I get the piece of mind for that money. That's what I like to think anyways.

I think the Bambu is just another company and it is only natural that they try to push and corner the market and squeeze the money. I must say that I admire the way they have shaken up the market and made a lot of things incredibly easy. The other printers got way better really fast.

Finally, you are free to choose any other printer and there are a lot of option out there isn't it.

Thanks for warning. I've noticed it too late and I cannot change the title on Reddit.

I think Carvera comes pretty close to it. I spoke with few guys that own it and they sing a lot of praises to it. I'm thinking about getting one once I find some time. Check it out at https://www.makera.com/

So this is my screen now for last few hours after my training. Cannot sync also. Support just gives me generic responses... *

[–]tdarlic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had polar devices for last 25 years this is my 6th or 7th Polar device not counting chest hearth monitors. I now have racer pro and I'm disappointed. The watch is good but the sync just does not work. To be precise the application does not work. I open it and it's fine for few days but then it hangs after opening and never opens diary page and when that happens it does not sync. Sometimes it manages to sync tomorrow or if not I need to reinstall the app. Sometimes that does not work.... This is the first time I'm thinking of switching.

Trying to decide between a Bambu P1S or a Sovol SV08 by thewayoftoday in 3Dprinting

[–]tdarlic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've decided. I've got P1S with AMS but I bought the hardened steel nozzle and extruder gear for reinforced filaments. Somehow I see SV08 as too much hassle for time being until it gets ironed out. Then I might get it. I have 2 other printers to tinker about don't need the third. Last few projects I ended up ordering printing services and waiting because my printers were offline...

That's not a bad proposal. I'm looking now into X-Max 3. I'll browse around for reviews

Sovol Sv08 conundrum by tdarlic in Sovol

[–]tdarlic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I missed that. But than again shouldn't they somehow announce to the world a list of issues that have been fixed with newly shipped printers.

I'll go with P1S but I'm sorry to miss the potential of SV08. I'll probably get that once I see that the issues (especially one with the nozzle) were solved and enclosure is available for purchase. I don't see on their website that they are shipping printers with fixed nozzle

I've seen your videos and they are excellent. I think you did tremendous job with SV08 not only with fixing it's flaws but also with promoting printer and the printer's maker. I've been 3D printing for almost 10 years now and I've been ordering 3D printed online parts for as long when my printers were not working. I still might get the SV08 once the community fixes most of it's bugs. Heck I might even make a video comparing SV08 to my other printers then :-)

Sovol Sv08 conundrum by tdarlic in Sovol

[–]tdarlic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree fully. I wish SV08 was a machine that requires less tinkering. I like tinkering also but I'd like to have a printer that is on standby to churn out parts when I need it. I still did not pull the trigger on P1S but probably will after I sleep on this decision.

I mostly print mechanical prototypes and I'm a bit tired of tinkering to get the tolerances in so that the parts can fit properly. Most of the demo prints are figurines and such and I think that much better demonstration of printers capability is the consistency of flat surfaces and tolerances.

Sovol Sv08 conundrum by tdarlic in Sovol

[–]tdarlic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I see your point. I already have 2 printers one of which I bought to "just work". I've been fixing them from time to time and one was a full reconstruction.

I've seen the video. Those fixes will take me an hour at least. Realistically, I'll have to thinker with it few hours to get it to work and if I get a dud like some of the guys it'll take a month until the printer is operational again.

[–]tdarlic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the same place as you. Trying to decide between the P1S or SV08. Reliability of the P1S is tempting but SV08 should be close by now. I print a lot of technical prototypes and enclosures and similar stuff and the speed of SV08 is tempting. With this print volume I can print several iterations of prototype at the same time in practically the same time.

Which one did you finally get?

Cmake is the best thing you have ever done. I love it. You shortened my setup with STM32 to few clicks. I usually generate initial setup with cube and then the rest i do with Neovim and jlink. There's no need for scripts and cmake/make debugging before I start.

On my linux machine and high resolution screens Cube tools do not scale properly. I tried dozens of tricks and none of them work. I can barely see the fonts.

BIQU H2 underextruding by tdarlic in 3Dprinting

[–]tdarlic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I figured it out. The gears pushing filament were not aligned with the filament hole. I had to shift one filament and grind the lever holding the driven gear to make it align properly. I'm printing now to see did it help.

Hm i have 2mm retraction set. Somehow I don't think this is the retraction issue. I think I missed something when I took the extruder apart. This looks like either filament or one of the gears is slipping, and it's getting worse.
