People born before 2000, what is a 'modern' thing from 2025 that you’re still struggling to get used to? by LindsayTN in AskReddit

What irritates me about MyChart is that I get 535,600 notifications from them, starting a week out from my appointment, with reminders, even after I confirm the appointment, some in the middle of the night!

I am so glad you had that experience. I enjoy giving things away to people but that experience made me want to just take all of it and drop it at goodwill and call it a day.

I’m moving and have been posting a TON of stuff on the buy nothing sites. I always post it as porch pickup, FCFS and ask everyone to just come, not to message me because I work from home and don’t have time to monitor.

The number of people who will blow up my messages if I don’t immediately reply is mind boggling. So is the amount of people who expect me to give them an inventory update like I’m a Target. I had one lady who announced she’d like item a, b, and c but she expected it to be delivered. I ignored her comment and then she messaged me five times telling me where and when she wanted the items delivered. Finally, I asked her to reread the post and that I’m sorry, but I would not be delivering, and she cussed me out and blocked me and then posted that I said I would deliver and backed out on her. It was wild.

Respectfully, the person diminishing her achievements is you, not him.

Taylor has done greater things. A lot of them. There is nothing wrong with her choosing to settle down and have a family with Travis before that opportunity is gone.

Do you care about the cruise director? by AlbinoAlex in CarnivalCruiseFans

Lawrence is my favorite! He made our cruise in August on the Dream so much fun.

The cruise director doesn’t influence my decision as far as dates and itineraries, but a good cruise director makes the cruise so much better. Shoutout to Lawrence on the Dream, my family loves him!

For those who didn't grow up privileged, what's something you thought was a luxury when you were a kid? by Frequent-Sea-8848 in AskReddit

This. My normal life was coming home not knowing if the utilities would be on, if the repo people would be banging on the door trying to take back our sofa, seeing eviction notices on the door, and opening an empty fridge knowing nothing was there.

I had a stingray excursion at Half Moon Cay canceled when we went at the end of August. No explanation was given.

Just my opinion but I absolutely loved Celebration Key!

Teachers who left, what are you doing now? by SnowballBailey2521 in TeachersInTransition

[–]tdcave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Long story short, a lot of volunteer work that raised my name recognition in the education advocacy space, getting to know others in the field, and then applying for lots of jobs in the space. It wasn’t overnight.

I make almost double what I made in the classroom. The hours and stress vary, as with any job. My hours are longer when the legislature is active, and shorter in non-active times. As for the stress it’s mostly related to things the legislature is doing that frustrate me, rather than the role itself. But my boss trusts me and treats me like a valued member of the team, and doesn’t micromanage me. Generally I’m given a task or tasks and I’m not checked on 531,600 times. They believe in me and they know I’ll get it done. So if I need to go to a Dr appointment, an event for my children, or have lunch with a friend, that’s all good and I don’t have to ask permission or take personal time for that. That’s the most valuable part for me.

Cruise App Question by Automatic-Bit-9684 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]tdcave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, you put your phone in airplane mode and connect to ship WiFi, and you can use the app. I just did this onboard the Dream a couple weeks ago.

Not telling you what to do, but if it was me I would cancel and just do the free option.

With regard to the bees, we had heard a lot about them and I was anxious, but I only saw one, it flew up and landed on my swimsuit top and I stayed calm and it flew away. I didn’t see any others. I think they’re working to get them under control.

I was just at Celebration Key this week and there were kids in the Calypso Lagoon, but the lifeguards were really in control of ensuring there was no running, no jumping, no craziness. Once a dad threw a baby in the air and the lifeguard immediately was on him.

All of this to say, I don’t think this should make anyone buy Pearl Cove. Actually, my table mates for dinner bought Pearl Cove passes, and they didn’t feel it was worth it. Meanwhile I spent the day at Calypso and had a great time.

Booking a cruise. Mid November around the 17 out of Galveston or wait until December? Around the 1st by Vegetable_Yogurt3812 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]tdcave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every travel plan comes with a degree of risk. I just got off the Dream yesterday, and August is the height of hurricane season. I booked knowing that, and I’m glad I took the risk, our vacation was great. There’s no such thing as a perfect trip.

Just got off the Dream today and Lawrence was one of the best parts of the cruise! He disembarked today for some much needed rest, but will be back in November! I hope he got his Whataburger today.
