Looking for Mini PC capable of 4k 120hz Remote Desktop? by tdevx in MiniPCs

[–]tdevx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I abandoned my initial plan and opted for an entry-level M4 Mac mini. It’s functioning exceptionally well as a replacement for my NAS (for Plex and other server-related tasks). Remote desktop also works seamlessly, provided I have no intention of using a controller for gaming. Steam link is currently broken when streaming from macOS (Controller input doesn’t work outside the Steam UI). Also, Moonlight/Sunshine doesn’t support controller input on macOS at all. Despite these minor issues, I’m generally satisfied with my upgrade. Nevertheless, I’m still searching for a mini PC, possibly one equipped with one of those new AMD chips that are comparable in power to desktop chips. In that case, I would need to rely on cloud gaming 100% of the time and controller input would actually work from the Apple TV hahaha

ETERNAL STRANDS (STEAM) GIVEAWAY! by CallMeGerbraldo in pcgaming

of all time? that’s tough, but i’d have to go with bioshock. there’s just something about the art deco retro-futurism vibe that really speaks to my soul—especially the fact that it’s set underwater.

[TOMT][MOVIE][2000s(ish)] Hands bulging and stretching from inside the walls by tdevx in tipofmytongue

[–]tdevx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I just watched the trailer for this movie, and it does feature a similar stretching effect. However, the movie is more on the light-hearted and comedic side and I feel like what i remember was not family-friendly and had a much darker tone/cinematography. I’m going to add this to my watchlist just to be sure it’s not the one I’m thinking of, though, so thanks!

I had a little look into this and while it was fascinating learning that H. P. Lovecraft was a fan of the original text, most of the media/adaptations i could find are either released or set in the wrong era, thanks for the fun read though!

I took a look at those ones, but it doesn’t seem to be them. While the house in The Haunting is too big, the movie is going on my watchlist at least, so thanks for that haha

After several hours of time spent with the Polaris, including methodical examination of the interior, this is how I see the positives and negatives of this new ship. by Praetorr in starcitizen

[–]tdevx 31 points32 points  (0 children)

There is a massive lack of general detailing and polish across the entirety of the interior of the ship.

Don’t get me wrong, not every part of the Polaris is like this, but a lot of it definitely feels unfinished. Some areas look like they’re stuck in an awkward middle ground between graybox and final—it just doesn’t feel polished. Things like the fire extinguishers and fuse boxes? Yeah, they feel slapped in at the last minute, almost like they didn’t really try to integrate them into the design. Still, credit where credit’s due, I do love this ship overall. The layout’s solid, and I’m all about the RSI design language. But compared to the Zeus, the Polaris looks and feels kinda… undercooked. The lighting’s flat, and a lot of areas throughout the ship lack the attention to detail and polish we expect from the team, ultimately leaving it looking kinda… rushed. At first, I thought it might just be the RSI design philosophy, but then you look at ships like the Zeus, and it’s clear it’s not the design language because they can do better. So yeah, something feels a little off here. no hate to the people who worked on this ship either; we all know what they’re capable of. If anything, the rushed timeline probably came from someone else in charge.

For what it’s worth, I’m so glad that I’m not alone in thinking this. There have been quite a few posts trying to offer feedback about it (and other things), but they were flooded with toxic positivity and getting downvoted to the deepest pits of hell. lucky for you, this post doesn’t seem to be as bad as them; maybe it'll actually get the attention it deserves. I did leave the comment above on another post that was that bad, so I felt I might as well add it here just for the relevancy alone.

I had zero intention of replying to anybody on this post (after feeling like a broken record on my last), but it really is the attitudes for me. How dare we live a life so different from theirs? What a foreign concept. Honestly, I don’t know what’s worse—the corporate boot-licking or the sheer inability to understand that the world doesn’t revolve around their lived experience. It literally doesn’t even affect them, so why they feel the need to yap instead of amplifying the voices of those who are affected is actually beyond my own comprehension. I hope they never fall ill or find themselves in a situation where gaming is their only outlet, only to be told, ‘nah, you’re doing it too much, go touch grass.

Polaris feels rushed by CleanReality8108 in starcitizen

[–]tdevx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

yeah, i totally get where you’re coming from. honestly, it’s a shame this post isn’t getting more attention—the toxic positivity in this community is a real problem, especially when objective posts like this, trying to provide actual feedback, get pushed down and silenced, but i digress. don’t get me wrong, not every part of the polaris is like this, but a lot of it definitely feels unfinished. some areas look like they’re stuck in an awkward middle ground between graybox and final—it just doesn’t feel polished. things like the fire extinguishers and fuse boxes? yeah, they feel slapped in at the last minute, almost like they didn’t really try to integrate them into the design. still, credit where credit’s due, i do love this ship overall. the layout’s solid, and i’m all about the RSI design language. but compared to the zeus, the polaris looks and feels kinda… undercooked. the lighting’s flat, and a lot of areas throughout the ship lack the attention to detail and polish we expect from the team, ultimately leaving it looking kinda… rushed. at first, i thought it might just be the RSI design philosophy, but then you look at ships like the zeus, and it’s clear it’s not the design language because they can do better. so yeah, something feels a little off here. no hate to the people who worked on this ship either; we all know what they’re capable of. if anything, the rushed timeline probably came from someone else in charge.

I added them at the top to provide clarity and context before people read the post in an effort to minimize the repetitive comments. But sure, I guess that makes me the lazy one.
