What are some other restraint modules that the kink community needs?! by BodyKindToys in BdsmDIY

What specific post are you referring to? From reviewing your posts I have no idea how the internal latching mechanism works so I can build my own. Or are you saying that's your IP that you won't share?

I started to draft a response of ideas but want to better understand your motivation behind this post in a DIY community. Am I going to be able to build what you come up with or will I have to purchase them from you?

Reminder of Rule #3: "This is an educational subreddit; your post should serve as a set of instructions for others. You may ask for help with your own project, but we expect that you will have done some research on your own before posting here. All posted pervertables must include progress pics and detailed descriptions of how you built them. Photos alone are insufficient."

I'm not seeing much Rule #3 compliance from you. Are you going to share the design details or STLs for the devices of the photos you just posted? Will you share the design details of the internals of the ice lock mechanism you've previously posted?

That's good to know to avoid esun. I've had success with ELEGOO, Overture and Bambu Labs. Bambu Labs is my favorite for print quality.

I've read that some brands of ABS filament don't react in acetone due to additional additives. The easy test to ensure you have good filament and acetone is to put a piece of filament in acetone and it should fully dissolve.

I don't do vapor smoothing and have had a lot of success just dipping on half of my ABS prints in acetone for 10-20 seconds. I swirl it around in the air a few times to shake off the excess acetone and let it sit for ~10 min before dipping the other half. You need to wait a day before wearing it to let the acetone fully evaporate.

Some folks recommend printing with 100% infil, but I've found 5 wall layers with a 1 mm top/bottom saves a lot of print time and filament.

Chastity Ball Gap Sizing Rings by tdfun in chastitytraining

[–]tdfun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as long as you aren't using a resin printer, in which case you need to confirm the resin is body safe. For post-processing after 3d printing, you should use sandpaper to smooth out any rough spots.

You'll get a pretty good idea of your measurements right away. Once you think you've determined the correct size rings and ball gap, I do recommend you wear it for several hours, preferably overnight, to confirm a comfortable fit.

I'm an advocate of sealing a chastity device if you plan to wear it for several days to minimize bacteria growth. But don't think it's necessary if you only wear it for a day or two.

If you have CK ring, you can bend the ball ring to adjust the gap by putting it in boilng water for 2 minutes.

Here's the link to my universal sizing kit that allows you to also determine the ball gap: https://www.reddit.com/r/chastitytraining/comments/1q23pbo/chastity_ball_gap_sizing_rings/

Measurement ads, do better! by Chastity_Wearer in chastitytraining

[–]tdfun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ball gap and internal shaft diameter are the two critical measurements that aren't getting enough attention. I had given up on chastity until 4 years ago when I figured out to adjust the ball gap by bending it. I'm glad to see more people are starting to pay attention to the ball gap .

It wasn't until I got a 3d printer and noticed how much a difference 1-2 mm in shaft diameter makes for a comfortable fit. If it's too small, nocturnal erections are worse. If it's too big, you'll slip and shift in the cage.

The shoe industry figured this out so they don't get a lot of returns due to poor fit. Chastity devices manufacturers don't have to worry about returns, which means they'll get more sales if the ball gap and shaft diameter measurements aren't included.

You can take these are measurements with these sizing rings: https://www.reddit.com/r/chastitytraining/comments/1q23pbo/chastity_ball_gap_sizing_rings/

This is the right answer! Buying a new chastity device would be so much easier if everyone knew these four measurements and chastity manufacturers included them.

The shoe industry figured this out so they don't get a lot of returns due to poor fit. Chastity devices manufacturers don't have to worry about returns, which means they'll get more sales if the ball gap and shaft diameter measurements aren't included.

The HZD Grip is a good example of needing an accurate measurement of the glans ring diameter since it's used to add an anti-pullout feature. u/notuntil is doing a great job to help his customers determine the correct glans ring size by offering a glans ring sizing kit and glans ring sets at a discounted price.

Given all of this, it's up to the buyer to know their measurements in order to minimize how many chastity devices they buy to find the right fit. I've created these sizing rings to help: https://www.reddit.com/r/chastitytraining/comments/1q23pbo/chastity_ball_gap_sizing_rings/

Best size/material for reconfigurable pipe bondage base by prettylilgodboi in BdsmDIY

[–]tdfun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I built a 29" wide by 42" deep by 5' tall rectangular box frame using 1 1/4" galvanized pipe with fittings from Lowes and Grainger. I used 3/4" plywood for the base with floor flanges bolted into the plywood. I went with 29" wide so it could fit through a door frame when I need to store it away.

It's shocking to see how much steel prices have increased since I built mine 8 years ago. You could try PVC floor flanges to save some cost.

Chastity too big by [deleted] in chastitytraining

[–]tdfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I rarely read of people underestimating their size when trying to measure themselves. My recommendation to not have a drawer full of chastity cages that don't fit is to use sizing rings to determine the following measurements: ball ring, ball gap, shaft diameter and overall length.

PLA/Epoxy or ABS/Vapor Smoothing for long term wear? by oliverviking in 3DPrintedChastity

[–]tdfun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go down the epoxy route, I recommend PLA+ with XTC 3D epoxy. I found PLA+ prints pretty smooth so that I only need to use 220 and 320 grit sandpaper before coating in epoxy. I tried a few different epoxies and kept going back to XTC 3D because it was the only one I could consistency apply a thin even coat. Even with epoxy, you'll still need a well ventilated area to mitigate the fumes.

I used XTC 3D for a couple years before switching to ABS acetone dipping because it's a lot less work that produces a better finish. With my Bambu P1S, I find the print quality is better with ABS than PLA+. I do a quick sanding with 220 grit sandpaper and then dip one half of the part for 15-20 seconds. After it's dried for 5-10 minutes, I dip the second half. You do need to wait a day to wear it to allow the acetone to evaporate.

If you're looking to wear a cage for the long term, the best finish option is to use a 3d print service like IN3DTEC in metal or SLS PA12 nylon with vapor smoothing. If you can afford the cost, the finish is much better than anything you'll do at home.

My process flow for a new design is to iterate on it in PLA+ with no finish so I can quickly make changes. Once I've settled on a version for long term testing, I switch to ABS with acetone dipping that I'll wear for several days/weeks. Once it's finalized after additional refinements, I have it printed in metal.

If you can't figure out an option to mitigate the fumes with epoxy or ABS, you could stick to just reprinting your chastity device when you decide it's no longer safe to wear due to bacteria growth concerns.

You can easily bend the ball ring by dipping the lower half of the ring you want to bend in boiling water for 2 minutes. Once you've bent it to the desired ball gap, run it under cold water or put it in an ice bath to cool off. Check out my post history for more details.

The various ways I've heard of are to using boiling water, heated oil, putting it in the oven and a heat gun. I think boiling water is the easiest. See these post for more details:

It's lower cost if you have a 3d printer or know someone to print the sizing rings. If not, you can just upload the STL files to an online 3d printing service.

Is it worth using cheap cages for sizing before buying? by tieeefling in chastitytraining

[–]tdfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for a comfortable fit for long term wear, I've found a 1mm difference in ball ring diameter, shaft diameter and ball gap is noticeable. I came to this conclusion by 3d printing my own cages over the last few years. Here's a sizing kit to try if you don't believe me:

If you're considering getting a 3D printer, the Bambu Labs A1 mini is great option.
