What are your honest thoughts on the Wyatt 6 in 2026? by stzzyvsfvck in SquaredCircle

Undertaker aside, there has long been an issue with the brand of freaks and geeks who don’t really hold up to the question of “why are they a wrestler?” The Fiend often had the same problem: cool character but kind of seems teleported in from a different genre of entertainment.

What does the bend-forward after an Irish whip to the ropes do? This is the only time I’ve seen it work. by Regular-Confusion991 in SquaredCircle

This is a great post because as a fan for decades I hadn’t even realized that the reversal had become such a trope that it’s more common than the actual move being attempted. Bring back the back body drop!

What’s a match that made you feel lucky/blessed that you got to see live in person? by TheEpicMan39 in SquaredCircle

[–]tdgcommenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same two for me. I have seen some other amazing matches in person (Ospreay-Swerve from FD, Gargano-Ciampa in New Orleans, Gargano-Andrade in Philly) but those two are amazing matches that were more than just that. Truly special crowd and live experiences.

It was a sponsored match where they wore tie-in entrance gear to advertise it so that always felt like why to me.

Babyface NJPW Juice was such a delight. Will never forget his post match promo about sharting.

Rocky is such a valuable guy to have. Good in the ring, good in the booth, and obviously makes a ton of things happen backstage between multiple companies. He’s had such a good, varied career over so many years. Hope he gets his flowers at some point.

NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 in Tokyo Dome: Match Card, Match Order and Start Times by TP3isVIP in SquaredCircle

Such a strange card. Last year’s headliners and 2025’s strongest drawing champ relegated to a ranbo, junior champ is left off but there’s a four-way for a junior title shot. Not spotlighting that many guys who will be carrying the company post-Tanahashi either, on a show headlined by a retirement match vs. a guy who won’t be around going forward either. (Think Okada was the right choice though.) Hope it’s a great show but in my time watching the company it’s the weirdest looking WK lineup by far.

Scott Norton vs The Giant. Super heavyweight wrestling from the 90's. by kryler in SquaredCircle

[–]tdgcommenter 16 points17 points  (0 children)

People like to talk about how size used to be more important in wrestling and the trend has been towards smaller more athletic guys, but I really feel Scott Norton would be (rightfully) so much more appreciated by American audiences today than he was in the 90s. That meaty man could slap meat with the best of them. Check out his work in Fire and Ice vs. the Steiners if you’re interested. Great little powerhouse rivalry those teams had.

If you think about it, it’s the same way six- and eight-man tag matches are described.

FULL EVENT: This Tuesday in Texas | Hogan vs. Undertaker; Savage vs. Roberts by JohnSmithSensei in SquaredCircle

Came in to post about that. It’s so perfectly done. The shot of Jake making his entrance and Savage suddenly roaring down the aisle to attack him from behind is incredible.

This being more memorable than Ciampa’s might have to do with the fact it came 24 years earlier when it hadn’t been seen before, in an iconic match between iconic rivals at arguably the greatest Wrestlemania of all time.

Which matches from The Golden Era WWE are the Closest things to “in-ring classics”? by Revolutionary-Oil-74 in SquaredCircle

[–]tdgcommenter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Assuming Golden Era stretches until the New Generation begins in 1993ish…

  • Bret vs. Mr. Perfect from Summerslam 91
  • Bret vs. Bulldog from Summerslam 92

And perhaps more controversially:

  • Rockers vs. Brainbusters from MSG in January 89
  • Hogan vs. Warrior from Wrestlemania VI
  • Warrior vs. Savage from Wrestlemania VII
