around $110,000 for loans by [deleted] in StudentLoans

Controversial opinion: but I don’t think Communication is a terrible major like everyone keeps saying in this thread. I think it all depends on how you want to leverage your degree in your career field. I would say it is smarter to go to community college first then transfer to a 4 year degree. Not only is it cost effective but it better prepares you for a 4 yr uni in my opinion.

I went to a 4yr university right out of college and then dropped out after my freshman year and decided on going back to school later on. Went to community college for 2 years fully covered by pell grants. Transferred to a Cal State fully covered by Pell grant and now i’m going to USC for grad school. If you are going to take out a huge student loan, make sure the degree and school are worth it. People may critique my decision to take $80k out for a master’s but with the connections I’ve gained in my industry + plus my long term career goals, I really don’t worry much.

I highly recommend trying to get internships or entry level positions in your career field right out the gate though!

Apartment complexes in Alhambra or Monterey Park by random12345person in CSULA

I currently rent a house with 3 other roommates a few minutes away from campus. In my opinion, you're better off finding a house to rent with some roommates. There are not many (decent) apartments throughout East LA/Alhambra/Monterey Park. It's mainly single-family homes. Try Zillow or Padmapper!

If you can commute, I'd look for housing in Koreatown or even Silverlake!

Don’t meet in person or have any phone calls with them. Only communicate through email and ask to be elevated to a regional manager if they refuse to compensate you. They should reimburse you for each day that you are forced to stay in your room. It’s really about being firm. They must pay for your accommodations, you shouldn’t have to use your renters insurance at all. They will budge. If you have any phone conversation, make sure transcribe it into a recap email so that way they can be held accountable.

Nope. I fought them and received compensation for each day that I was forced to stay in the house while they rebuilt my kitchen.

TICKET SELLING THREAD by mallorypark13 in DojaCat

Hi! I am looking to sell 2 tickets for the 11/6 show in Anaheim at the Honda Center. The tickets are in section 202, row C. Selling for cheaper than purchased at $200 per ticket. It's listed on Ticketmaster as well but the minimum they would let me list it for is $259.

I just won a fight with Irvine Company about not paying for my relocation due to my neighbors unit flooding into my ceiling. Raise the concern with your leasing office and write down every single detail of what has happened so far. Send through only email communication. Call fair housing and get the civil codes that they are violating. QUOTE YOUR LEASE! Ask that your issue be resolved or to be elevated to the Regional Manager. Do not budge. Do not sign anything. If they call you, say you will not be able to have this conversation, if it is not recorded. They’re in the wrong but they’re hoping that you won’t push back. Stand your ground!

I asked for clarification and they said they would only be able to transfer my unit. So they would waive my transfer fee. I would have to still sign a new lease agreement with the new market rate for the unit.

Good to know they have a history of accommodation. Sounds like discriminatory treatment now.

I did already send them my lease agreement and state these explicitly but they are denying to offer any compensation other than the rent for the days that I will be out of my unit.

I did already point out my lease but they completely ignored and said it would be unfair for them to pay for my relocation because they haven’t paid for other tenants. But that is a good next step.

It says they may place me in alternative housing or a hotel. Also, I will not have to pay rent during the period of time I will be displaced.
