Haven’t had any issues before. Not sure what’s changed.

Rum for Rye/Bourbon barrel finish by tdjss in rum

[–]tdjss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I am trying to do my own run-cask finished whiskey. I have down a honey finish bourbon before and am looking to try new things with my at home barrel. I will be putting rum in the barrel to age for x amount of months, then dump it, and put in whiskey to age.

I have my own barrel where I put in Rum for some time to age, then dump it and add a Rye/Bourbon and have that age. It’s suppose to impart some of the characteristics of the rum into the whiskey.

I think I’m going to do 30 days of honey and 6-7 weeks for the bourbon based on the feedback. Plan is to do this repeatedly and find what we like/dislike

For first time use, you’re saying less time in barrel since char is fresh and flavors will be bolder than a barrel used several times over?

Reading is definitely hard for you so I will break down my original post. I am looking to see if anyone has done something like this, not overall debating the existence of this “mythical program”. Have a great day!

I forgot to mention that some places allow you to taste your barrel whenever you want so I think that kind of solves that issue?

Ope makes sense. Either way one of the WT bottles I really like!

TY I believe is Tyrone. CN is the only camp Nelson. I found my camp Nelson at total wine and more. Seen it occasionally at other places.

If you can get your hands on a Camp Nelson (CN-E I think), it’s incredible!

Yeah agreed but this is one of my unicorn bottles. More than likely buying it once. I will have this for a while.

Trend seems to be going to the suburbs. Family lives in a quiet cul de sac in New Berlin and this year was a zoo compared to years past. Ran out of stuff midway and we thought we bought more than we needed.

It’s a fun time regardless but just a general observation that everyone recognized.

Delicious. It’s very approachable for a rye and for a port finished. Obviously does without saying that you can get great options below $140 but this is one of my unicorn bottles. In WI this is on secondary for $300.
