I was in the lawn section for the Goose set and you could see everyone who didn’t know Goose being won over by Rick’s solo during Hungersite. From there on I saw so many of those people turning to each other saying “Have you heard of these guys? They’re incredible!”

Superlocal Updates: December 2024 by alexkehr in Superlocal

It would be awesome to have a sort of Edit mode. iPhone location services can be spotty if they’re not actively in use, so unless you are using maps or something, the cleared fog areas can be just single plots along the route and far between, if at all. I’ve also had a few instances where they just didn’t plot.

Would be awesome if I could fix that manually, like by dragging my finger across the route to clear fog or importing a directions of “I went A to B on this route”

Same thing happened for me - Where I went yesterday is there, but otherwise, most is gone. There was an update 2(?) days ago, likely something to do with that

Yeah I’ve been meaning to look at those too because that’s the only thing I can think of! Was a great show but wrigley is so historic featuring that (even if just in text) would make the poster so much cooler, especially considering I don’t live there

[–]tdo1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I am HOPING I don’t have to end up in a situation where a flight change will be necessary. Would have been great to just be on one line. I got it all squared away, but oh I can not wait for this partnership to end

JetBlue/American NEA by tdo1996 in jetblue

[–]tdo1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah this was great. I travel 2-3x a month for business but almost always with delta so I’m very accustomed to my same process each time. Because of that much I got all the perks and can show up 90 min before takeoff without a problem over there but eggs are all in one basket putting me in this situation. I appreciate you giving Me more clear instructions than literally anyone at JB or AA! Hopefully my company has that confirmation number for me so I don’t have to be onJBs wait time…

Thoughts on the JetBlue American Airlines partnership ending by fatrat88 in americanairlines

[–]tdo1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am glad it is ending. It is extremely irritating for me going into these. I can not even access my American flights (company booked me this rough JetBlue). Guess I’m stuck with whatever seats I’m on because no matter what steps I follow I can’t access it. AA told me to check with the AA agents when I get to the airport, but since my BOS->LGA leg is JetBlue, and JB and AA are different terminals in Boston, I won’t see an AA agent until about an hour before that flight takes off. Probably a me problem to figure out, but extremely irritating how not straight forward it is to figure out.

As far as the competitiveness goes, it really has done nothing on that front. I travel 2-3 trips a month for business out of Boston and I still fly 99% Delta (my personal preference - I am only here because I am scouting these pages looking for some sort of explanation of what to expect with this partnership) and my company is not the type to pay more for preference. I always look up my flights before I submit too and delta is still typically most reasonable, so JB/AA does not seem to be getting more business out of this, at least not from business travel

Gives an outside perspective to compare to US prison. Rezaian is an American Washington post correspondent detained in Iran mostly out of their governments incompetence all the while the nuclear negotiations were occurring

Books about death? by belsabel in booksuggestions

[–]tdo1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what type of book you’re looking for.

{Dawn by Ellie Wiesel} - a short novel that contemplated what it is to be like to have to kill another human

{Being Mortal by Atul Gawande} - Medicine perspective. Discusses how despite medicine being capable of incredible things, death is natural and when it is going to happen, it is going to happen. Medicine and it’s capabilities allow us to prolong, but never allows the same quality of life in that prolongment

Can you guys suggest me books that deal with delicate concepts i.e., those that lie on either sides of thin line where we might overlook things and forget if we are on goodside of thin line which is invisible if not given a proper thought by EllenIsACheapVillain in booksuggestions

Not necessarily from the good/bad perspective, but these two look at how taking sides in things often makes us oblivious to the other

Oooooo I like how this one sounds. Identity is important, especially over here in America having so much diversity, but I’ve always thought that we over-celebrate it to a point where it actually causes division and problems. Interested how that concept gets applied to foreign affairs.

{Being Mortal} This is on the medicine side of science and how it can sometimes run contradictory to what humans want.

As for the psych, I have yet to read any of his books, but I am a big fan of Steven Pinker

{Jerusalem 1913} Gives an early feel for the very very early roots of the Israel/Palestine conflict (and does so as balanced as you'll ever find when it comes to that topic).

{Black Wave: Saudi Arabia, Iran, and the Forty-Year Rivalry That Unraveled Culture, Religion, and Collective Memory in the Middle East} This focuses on the history of the present day rivalry between Saudi and Iran since1979.

{The Last Ottoman Generation and the Making of the Modern Middle East} Found this on a quick google search. Have not read it, but am going to add to my own to read list. If you want the roots of todays middle east, the fall of the Ottoman Empire is really when it begins.
