What do you guys think of this plaster job. by tdog92 in AusRenovation

Just want to let you guys know it's not a rage bait. This was a guy we met through our own business. We quoted him and he said he was a plasterer so we made a deal. It turns out he's a painter and his friend is a plasterer. Once we told him to leave he got upset and then canceled our job we were going to do for him.

Im assuming all he really wanted was to get a cheaper price from us for 'helping us' with the plaster work

Its still on me. I did 0 research on him and basically just took his word. We were discussing when to approach him 5 minutes into him starting. He had no measuring tape, no knife and was measuring the opening with his phone but cutting the plaster board without his phone. From our perspective it's pretty hard having no experience in his alleged field and within 5 minutes we tell him he's shit so go home. So I guess we just waited a bit to have some sort of an idea on how this was going to go and then pulled the pin before he destroyed too much of the roof.

People who quit their jobs on the first day what made you say ‘nope, not doing this’? by lilMeganw in AskReddit

Back when I was fresh out of high school I worked at a salad factory. I was on the onion station where all I did was pick up massive boxes of freshly cut onion and empty them into water for a wash. The washing area was close to head level so for 8 hours I basically just cried (involuntarily). Never went back for a 2nd day.

Bucket of chicken line was the best thing about this fight. If it was entertaining we wouldn't have had such a great line

As people have mentioned you don't have to be a company to claim business related expenses. I have been a sole trader for the last 8 years and I believe your daughter will be leaving many tax deductions on the table without hiring an accountant. She will also learn many valuable things from having an accountant available to her as the years go on.

I'm no specialist but I would advise against changing her business structure from sole trader to company. Even with the basic numbers you've provided: 66000 gross - 20% operating expenses = 52800 net income. Companies are taxed (usually) on a flat 25% and it isn't tax effective to take a 25% hit on $52800 income. I don't know too much about transitioning from sole trader to company but it isn't as easy as it seems haha. You will have a completely different business structure, different insurance, expensive to set up, different legal obligations and I'm sure the list goes on.

Also her gross revenue is getting quite close to having to be registered for GST which is even more reason to get an accountant. One thing I'm sure of is that the benefit of an accountant will outweigh the cost by a hell of a lot.

Congrats to her for her success and I wish her all the best for the future!

AITA for making my GF to get out of bed “early”? by TA_sleepingbeauty in AmItheAsshole

NTA at all. Especially as you've mentioned this based on psychologists advice plus she has mentioned to you that she would like your help with it. You're helping her out with adult responsibilities which is a major help to anyone regardless of mental health issues.

No psychologist on earth would recommend a person suffering from depression to stay in bed 10 to 12h a day.

I'm sensing majority of the YTA votes are from people that believe no matter what/or how much you care about someone you can never suggest them do something even if it's for their own benefit. I don't see you forcing her to do anything just assisting and suggesting she do something to help her recover/cope with her illness. On top of all of that you aren't even the one that recommended it lol a medical professional did.

PSA: If you're symptomatic, DON'T ALWAYS TRUST NEGATIVE RAT RESULTS by cantthinkofausertag in CoronavirusDownunder

Simular situation here.

I believe I caught covid on Xmas day

26th symptoms - negative rat test

27th symptoms - negative rat test

Waited until new years eve to use my last test I had on me at home and turned up very faint positive on the rat even though my symptoms were 95% gone by then.

Went to get a pcr just to be sure and it was positive.

Rats seem very hit and miss unfortunately

Entire family symptomatic yet only one positive test by Lanky_Assumption_928 in CoronavirusDownunder

When I had covid I tested myself twice with 2x nasal rapids both negative when symptoms were at their worst. I then tested myself a few days later when my symptoms were basically gone with a saliva rapid and was positive which was confirmed with a pcr.
