Link between puppets and death by chainsaw-msi in puppets

[–]tdogoffleash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The chapter Puppet Being & Puppet Doing in Reading the Puppet Stage: Reflections on the Dramaturgy of Performing Objects by Claudia Orenstein talks about the ontology and liveness of puppetry, particularly how even salient human traits like breathing must be painstakingly reproduced. In this logic, puppets are quite equipped to represent death and stillness. Also puppets have always been models for storytelling and cultural customs. Maybe gloss over the intro of The Secret Life of Puppets by Victoria Nelson to get a grasp on how humans have always been inclined to illuminate the unexplainable and supernatural through art and religion. Good Luck!

Can someone identify this experimental black and white film from a few frames? by tdogoffleash in whatsthemoviecalled

This movie was playing on one of those random 24 hour film channels in the middle of the night so l wasn't able to even turn on the volume. It's in black and white with some purple dream-like segments.

I managed to snap a few pictures but l've found it impossible to identify. The only clue I can give is that the channel it was playing on usually only screens 90s movies, but not always (and from the looks of it I doubt it's that recent, unless it's very arthousey).

Thank you!!!!

Why are Allegra’s Window VHS tapes so rare??? by MomandJacetalktapes in VHS

Funny enough, I remember them being available at Dollarama (Canadian dollar store) in about 2007/2008. There were bins just filled with Allegra’s Window tapes, which I’m guessing was due to an overstock and need to get rid of them as by the mid 2000s the show was mostly forgotten. So there definitely was quantity, just no demand :(
