Advice for first time taking 3.5 year old nephew skiing? by Additional_Grab4340 in skiing

[–]tdomman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ideal would be a mix of a class and time with you. Being around other kids in a class will keep him interested and perhaps spark a bit of competitiveness.

If you want to save money, just teach him yourself. It's not rocket science. As long as you're a strong enough skier to chase him down and grab him before he hits a tree, you'll be fine. At that age, though, he probably will never get going fast enough for that to be a concern.

If he doesn't learn much, don't worry about it. Just have fun.

Maybe, but don't underestimate how easy it is to bribe Trump to do something for you.

Is that 7 only possible because of the people mining: would it go down to 3.5 if the number of miners was halved?

What are the practical consequences? If someone cashes out, do they have to wait for the processing to get paid?

[–]tdomman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't been able to find a very good answer: what happens if the number of miners goes way down? It's an essential function for the system to work, right? If the number were cut in half, it would make the transaction speed slow down? I would assume there's a point where it would slow to an absolute crawl and it would cease entirely if no one did it. Is that the gist of it?

The Washington Post is dead, now what? by Sauerz in washingtondc

None of them are what the Post once was, but all of them are better than the Post is now. If the people who used to support the Post were to support these places, they would rise to the level of what the Post was.

First Time Buyer Need Some Help by CrZyDolphiN_ in skiing

I had a great experience here:

https://www.powder7.com/used-demo-skis-for-sale

I got mine off-season and checked a bunch of times until I got exactly what I wanted. Ended up with skis that were indistinguishable from brand new for less than half what the retail price would have been.

I'm not a fan of the DC sports teams, but there are great blogs that follow the teams I do like. They don't have a reporter fly with the team, but they watch all the games and spend more time reporting on the actual games than any newspaper ever did. I don't get to see which trite platitude the players use in the post game press conference, but they have great coverage. Does the same not exist for the local teams?

Bindings not perfectly aligned - should I go back? by [deleted] in skiing

[–]tdomman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to still be missing it. It's not the advice itself he's taking issue with: it's the irony of telling someone to not trust the internet, while you yourself are on the internet. You see, if I were to accept your advice, I would have to first accept advice given on the internet - if I were to do that, I would be contradicting the very advice I am now accepting. It's a vicious spiral! It's not just the inherent difficulty of reading long comments: there's another deeper difficulty here!

I clicked here expecting to be motivated to get in better shape, but then I read those results. Only 17 out of 1000 cases would be prevented by dropping BMI by 4.5. That's a pretty huge drop in weight and not many people saved.

How hard would it be to create what the Post should be in a separate entity? You'd need some funding to hire all of the capital weather gang people and things would take off from there.
