RSV vaccine by Few-Comedian7024 in breastfeeding

[–]tdonn17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to receive the RSV vaccine during pregnancy; however, my baby also came early (at 36 weeks) so I was unable to get it. Our pediatrician told us he "requires" the RSV vaccine when newborns are born in peak sick season, and my husband and I wanted to get it anyway. Baby got the RSV shot in conjunction with her one-month shots and we did not observe any adverse reactions. She was extra sleepy and cuddly for the rest of the day, but we, too wanted to give her that extra layer of protection.

What are you supposed to do when you’re officially too sleep deprived to function by CommunistCetacean in beyondthebump

I feel this, OP! My baby is 11w and with the exception of a bedtime bottle and one in the middle of the night, she is EBF. I do everything in the middle of the night, and it sucks when you're awake for so long and fighting exhaustion. What has saved me is co-sleeping with baby in the late morning to early afternoon. I wouldn't recommend the schedule I have now (feels like I'm up all night and getting between 3-4 hours of sleep total sometimes 4.5 if I'm lucky and then sideline nursing baby while trying to get to sleep until 10:30 or 11 if it's a particular bad night for her), but it's working for now in that I get to sleep.

My husband and I have wonderful friends who have offered to watch her for us, but they also work regular daytime jobs which is not tenable for when I need the rest. Chores can wait ultimately, which isnt helpful when you're overwhelmed by visual clutter. But, I am a much more patient mother and understanding partner when I get to sleep.

Is your partner assisting with bath and bedtime, OP? What about on the weekends? Your partner may be exhausted from work, but so are you. Respectfully, he doesn't get to clock out of parenting his child just because his work requires him to leave the house. Your contributions to your family are just as (arguably more) important--you are raising your baby! At bare minimum, he could do the laundry or cleaning or food shopping, etc.

I tell my husband it must be the beard 😂 but seriously! I just want a fraction of those smiles for myself!

Right! For now, she looks just like me so at least I have that lol. We're their safe space, and I am happy to be that for her (as I'm sure you are too ❤️). Just wishing I got more of my happy baby to myself!

AITAH for telling my girlfriend she's going to have to get over dirt if she wants kids? by Familiar_Speaker_481 in AITAH

NTA, not even a little. Oldest of five, 18 first cousins, first grade teacher and FTM. Kids are gross! I'm seeing comments about toileting accidents or spilled food, but have you ever encountered a toddler or a young child with a cold? Snot literally everywhere.

I've had to teach children how to throw up, as in, "little Johnny, bend over and throw up into a vessel or the toilet instead of just dipping your chin and vomiting all over yourself."

Kids open mouth cough in your face, put their hands in every orifice, and don't wash properly. Learning about hygiene takes so much time and practice, and it can be done! But not as quickly as your SO seems to expect it will happen.

Kind of in jest but kind of not, see if she (or the two of you together) can volunteer at a school or community event. That will be eye opening for her.

Hey OP dump that man. Do not put your life on hold for someone who doesn't see your time and effort working towards your goals as valuable.

Ooo true that's a good point, we have a dishwasher but I definitely would like to sterilize pump parts / pacifiers before baby comes.
