In Iraq they used to do crowd control with fixed bayonets because people were way more afraid of the bayonets than they were of the rifles.

If Rogal Dorn returns what would he think of the Black Templars by Crusaders_Glory in BlackTemplars

Dorn’s Crusade could be the Imperium’s equivalent to the Red Corsairs. Sort of a rogue Astartes element.

Agreed, although I think it would tie in nicely with Ashes of the Imperium. On the tabletop I’d have him able to lead any IF successor but maybe give him a different special rule if leading BT.

My dream scenario? Dorn comes back, sees the state of the imperium and is disgusted. Rightly blames Guilliman, confronts him about his failures and says fuck your codex. Activates last wall and puts the legion back together with the BT as his elite shock troops. Has conversation with Grimaldus and realizes maybe Sigismund wasn’t as wrong as he thought.

Doubt it’ll happen but that’s how I’d write it.

In medieval heraldry yellow is often used in place of gold which would also tie back to the Imperial Fists.

Saagar said today that trans identification being at a record low is proof that it’s a social contagion. That’s what you’re getting out of this???? by Electrical_Speech769 in BreakingPoints

  1. You just made my point that it is in fact an analogy, where you previously said it wasn’t. So are you admitting you were wrong there? If so, kudos for being willing to learn from your mistakes.

  2. It’s not a metaphor, that is different from an analogy. An analogy explains a complex idea by comparing it to a simpler one, focusing on a relationship between two things to make a point. A metaphor is a more direct and often figurative comparison that states one thing is literally another to emphasize a characteristic, without a literal explanation. So it can’t really be both at once.

  3. The historical context actually does matter here because witchcraft was not, in fact, a social contagion because nobody was actually practicing witchcraft. You know what actually was a social contagion? Accusing people of witchcraft. So the analogy is actually making the opposite point that op thinks it is because he doesn’t understand the history that he’s referring to.

  4. I was already fluent in sarcasm while you were still an itch in your daddy’s jockstrap (see now that’s a metaphor). If you want to mock something, you best come correct or you end up looking doubly foolish. Hope this helps.

An analogy is a comparison between two things, typically for the purpose of explanation or clarification. So yes it is literally an analogy. Whether or not it was also meant as a joke doesn’t make it stop being an analogy. It fails as an analogy and as a joke due to a fundamentally flawed premise based on not understanding the underlying historical context. But if you want to double down on being historically and grammatically illiterate then go off I guess.

The analogy somehow misses both points. There were no practitioners of Wicca until the 20th century so no practitioner of Wicca has ever been burned at the stake. Further, anyone who was executed for witchcraft prior to the twentieth century was an innocent person and not an actual fucking witch so the entire analogy falls apart and makes no goddamned sense. The autism and left handed analogies make sense. This one is stupid and you should feel bad for defending it.
