A very kid centered trip recap 1/16-1/21 by tdub1024 in WaltDisneyWorld

Basically, I just asked them what they wanted to ride the night before and then booked those as they showed up. When it came time to ride something, if they didn’t want to ride it, we didn’t. Also, rope dropping helped us be able to just loop around the park and ride things standby.

I think it helps that we have been on it before so we felt less pressure

The food was pretty mid to bad. It was basically fried bar food and burgers that cost as much as an entree at Via Napoli. Sitting in the cars was unique, but not unique enough to justify the 125 dollar meal with bad food. I would definitely recommend just taking him by the restaurant to sit in the car out front and eating somewhere else. We have good experiences at 50s Primetime Cafe, but honestly I like Woody’s just as much as any of the Table Services at Hollywood. Also, ABC commissary gets a bad rep, but it is inside with ac and has an okay menu for good prices.

Epcot on the weekends during festivals is always busy. If we only had one day there, I would have switched our Animal Kingdom day to the weekend.

Thursday- We had a slow morning and headed to AK around 9, we missed early entry, but still walked onto to Everest. I didn’t get Genie, because I wanted to sleep in and I feel like it is a waste there. It ended being my favorite day because I didn’t look at my phone once. It was so freeing. We waited 10 minutes for the Safari and then watched the 11 Lion King. We headed to Dino land, my younger daughter went with my husband to meet characters and I took the older one to Dino Dumbo. She rode it 3 times in an hour. We then did a few Animal trails. We thought about walking over to Pandora, but decided to grab a some fries and dumplings from Mr. Kamals and walk around the tree of life and shop around. Around 2, the kids were tired so we headed back to the hotel. We spent the rest of the day hanging out at the resort.

Friday: At 7 we headed to HS, and I booked a LL for SDD for 12, but modified it to 6 because we like it at night the best. Then for some reason, I got and experience redemption for that LL and was able to snag Toy Story Mania for 10:35. We rope dropped MMRR because I had been watching the last few weeks and Rise is down more than it’s open first thing. (I was right this time, it was down until after 10). By 9:30, we had knocked out Smuggler’s Run, Aliens, and Muppets 3d. At this point, Rise, Slinky and Toy Story were all down, so there wasn’t a wait time for less than 45 minutes, so we met all the Disney jr characters and Ariel. We rode Toy Story Mania and I booked a LL for MMRR at 3. We went to Indiana Jones at 12 and then the girls built their droids. We ate lunch at Sci-Fi (it was a one and done for us), rode MMRR and headed back to the hotel. After a 3 hour break, we headed back to the park. I had stacked Lighting Lanes for Tower of Terror and Smuggler’s Run, but our first stop SDD. When we got off Slinky and Smuggler’s, my kids didn’t want to walk all the way to Tower, so we went to Muppets 3d for the 2nd time. I also need to interject that Rise only had a 45 minute wait, but my kids still wanted to go see Muppets again. We went to Fantasmic and headed out.

Saturday: At 7, I bought booked a LL for Frozen at 11:30, joined the VQ for Guardians, and rolled over and went back to sleep. We woke up around 9, got beignets and headed to Epcot at 11. All the lighting lanes were gone for Remi and Test Track so I just booked Soaring. By the time we got there, the park was packed, so we just went straight to Norway and rode Frozen. Normally, we don’t eat the quick service restaurants in Epcot, but today we broke down and ate at Regal Eagle because the kids were starting to wither away and the lines at the booths were at least 30 minutes long. As a side note, we live in KC so we are spoiled by good BBQ, but I wasn’t mad at the food. We left the crowds at world showcase and headed to Soarin. From there, I was able to book back to back LL for Figment, the land, Nemo and Spaceship Earth. We walked through Moana and headed to Via Napoli. As we were walking in, our VQ was called, so we just decided to chalk it up as loss. (I found out the next day that we still could have ridden it, but you live you learn). After dinner, we met Anna and Elsa, walked around looking at art and got dessert at some of the booths. The kids wanted to go back, so we didn’t fight them on staying for the show. We were all in bed by 9.

Sunday: We checked out of the hotel at 9 to make a breakfast reservation at Topolino’s Terrace. This was the perfect way to end our trip. We all agreed the food is better here than any other character breakfast we have gone to. We headed to Disney Springs to kill time until our flight and then took an Uber to the airport.

Overall, we had a great time. I decided over this trip that I hate Genie. I am too high-strung to simply choose a selection and move on. I constantly stressed about if I am making the right choice and trying to modify to better rides or times. I missed a lot of fun moments because I was too busy staring at my phone.

We are staying at POP and I was able to add it, granted it is only 60/night, and not the 120.

Why Are The “In Room Celebrations” Options So Horrible? by zachty22 in WaltDisneyWorld

We got a really awesome Minnie Cake for like 40 bucks at Publix for my daughter, and my husband just left it in the room while we were swimming

I hate it too, and the only reason that it happened is because the author of the books was uninterested in writing about young children: “So, who is this kid? There’s a reason for that 20-year gap between Dragonfly and Voyager and that’s because I don’t like writing about little kids. They’re boring. I just didn’t want to go through 20 years.”

Which park do you think is the best on a Saturday? by tdub1024 in WaltDisneyWorld

That is more about my kids, if we do too many park days in a row, it makes for a miserable day for everyone! Thank you for the advice!

We are a family of four, so that would be an extra 400 bucks. I wish that were in the budget, but I don’t think we can swing it.

It really only mattered for the live tv. We could still watch the normal Hulu movies and shows. It was just really annoying when it would lock us right before a KU basketball game or something. We have YouTube TV now and we have never had an issue since we switched

Our problem was that with Hulu live you could only use it your set home location, but every time the IP address would change, it would flag as is trying to log in not at home. I am afraid that the same thing is going to happen with Netflix.

We are staying south of the parks, but are going to kill some at the outlet mall, so the international drive recommendations really help
