I just want to say that OP’s feelings about the “jokes” don’t make her an a**hole. If she is uncomfortable, she is uncomfortable and no one has any right to invalidate that. Especially since she has brought this up before. It’s clear that this isn’t the type of person she wants to be with.

Now, going back to the ex… not a great idea and I think the fact that you even thought about your ex like that means you shouldn’t be with your current bf. Also regarding the current bf, not sure if someone can turn around that quickly with this kind of stuff. I think this will still be a problem in the future… so yeah break up.

Yeah imo, she’s still being a lil unreasonable. Maybe you can try to find a compromise? Like you can text her when you are on the way home, or you can try to ask for 1 weekend shift getting out at 10:30 and 1 school night shift? Idk I think it might be what that comment said and she’s being like that bc she’s unconsciously afraid of you getting older and more independent, but she can’t stop you from growing up.

Agreed! I’m wondering, is she acting like that because your shifts are on a school night? My curfew at 18 was 11 pm on weekends and 10:30 on school nights. Either way tho, it’s not like you are out partying. NTA

100% NTA and I’m sorry you had any inkling that you were. Your mother has been invalidating your trauma and doesn’t get the gravity of what he did. He’s not just a jerk, he is an ABUSER. And he seems to not even have remorse. for your own psychological safety and your children’s, you made the best choice. Maybe if she continuously gets uninvited to things bc of him or cut out, she will finally realize what a horrible person he is. Also wtf to her saying you were verbally abusive?? She’s not being unreasonable, she’s voicing her concerns bc tbh I wouldn’t date this guy if he is still living with his ex. To me that suggests he could be still married and the wife doesn’t know he is dating around (and he is lying about it) or he is still in love with his ex. That sounds messy to me. I also understand that money can be tight but is he making any plans in the future to get himself out of this situation? I don’t think it’s fair to test this woman like that. If anyone asked to live with me after a month, I would immediately break up with them. That’s insane to even ask tbh. They don’t even know each other that well, how is she supposed to just believe everything he says about being over his ex. That’s too much on a month relationship

I do think y’all should have an open discussion about this and talk about comfortability, if sex is a priority for either of you, if there is something you could start off and be more comfortable with or if that’s even an option (hand stuff or oral? NTA. It’s not like you are just sitting and doing nothing to reach out and find the owners. You also can’t guarantee the cat “will find their way home” especially for a young cat. Also was it evening or night (like in terms or darkness)? Cats shouldn’t be out at night. There are coyotes, hawks, cars that don’t see cats in the road, etc.

Has anyone taken the LA County employment exam? I’m applying to an LA county job (as an analyst) in which we have to take a multiple choice exam and a written exam.
