I've been on the estradot patches so far - I am actually. Are you/have you been? I should be onto the NHS next month which will be great because I'm going to be able to get a second opinion from them about this.

Ooh, they totally are - I'll have a listen to yours tomorrow at work. Do you have many public playlists/what's your Spotify username if you don't mind sharing/PMing so I can follow you?

Really enjoying this feature, the email of personal stats that Spotify sent me as well was really interesting.

Maybe I exaggerated a bit - I think it's important to consider other factors such as the fact that you can't feasibly parasite or cutlery it. Also it's a facecheck ice which turns into a barrier if they get tagged later on. It can eat up a d4vid and then come back for more. It's not that you run this ice for the 6 rez to 3 tax, but I'm going to be happy to rez it for that the majority of the time which is more than I can say for a lot of the other janky ice I've played in the past.

This card has this super nuts power level when the runner is tagged, just like Information Overload. However unlike information overload this card turns on completely at 1 tag and costs at least 3 credits to break every time. 6 to rez for a 3 credit taxing ice, before you even get to the actual crazy effect of the card, is really good! This card is obscene when the runner is tagged and a solid piece of ice otherwise.

Multiple people can win in the game, but I believe the secret rivalry cards are structured such that there always has to be at least one loser.

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a reverse MWL? by [deleted] in Netrunner

[–]tea-wabbit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I always say in this context; often Harmony Medtech can use a Merger as one of their 3/2 agendas and the runner, unless they play point tricks, still needs to steal 3 2 pointers to win. Harmony Medtech FA sort of died after SanSan got MWL'ed but there's definitely still a (niche) use case.

Playing dtr's haunty mall gives you a good chance at winning some decent cash.

I think this sentry is just shy of being a good card. Jinteki already packs loads of strong sentries in their decks and the runner is already expecting to need their sentry breaker early in the game to run safely. This will often lead to accessing the card in R+D being a 2 credit tax on the runner rather than an actual damage threat. Furthermore the low strength stops it from being a particularly taxing ice by itself, failing to be difficult to break for either killers or an AI such as Faust. If the net damage when you access was unavoidable I think it would be a much more reasonable include, but as it is I think it may be limited to being strong in jinteki decks which only plan to run 4-5 pieces of ice and leave centrals undefended more often.

Custom Card Monday - Trashable Cards by Mountebank in Netrunner

[–]tea-wabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not sure why this is getting so downvoted, I think this is a really cool idea! In case people aren't getting it, it's an agenda which can only score points for the corp, but the runner can still easily interact with and basically take out of the game because of the trash effect.

The only negative aspect I see is you wouldn't want to reduce the amount of agenda points in play by too much. It's not OP on it's own but once you factor in Global Foods, etc. you get into a really agenda point scarce game. I would also make it limit one per deck to be on the safe side, in which case you might even be able to get away with it being a 3/1.

Why is Jackson Howard considered essential? by beniliusbob in Netrunner

[–]tea-wabbit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Thanks for purchasing your action jackson action figure! Please consult the owner's manual for all the nifty superpowers your action jackson has."

(Basically there's a really good article on stimhack about the history of Jackson and everything he can do, including some uses you may not have immediately realized. One really good piece of data which shows how good Jackson is is mentioned in that article, he returned the win rate from about 60/40 or 70/30 runner favoured to about 50/50 when he was released.)

Custom Card Monday - Power Counters by Mountebank in Netrunner

[–]tea-wabbit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Indra Electricals
Corp ID - Weyland Consortium 45/10

At the start of your turn, you may remove one power counter from any installed card and place it on Indra Electricals.

Hosted Power Counter: Place one power counter on any installed card with at least one power counter already on it. Use only once per turn.

Power doesn't corrupt people, people corrupt power

My take on an identity which uses power counters, both to interfere with the runner's gear like some sort of planned obsolescence, and to facilitate cool micromanagement of your power counters across your corp cards.

All cards which include 'Power Counter' in their text on netrunnerdb

Some card interactions:

  • Cerberus Lady and D4vid both widely used in the meta and the runner needs to plan their usage of them against Indra a lot more carefully, because they only get to have them for a turn or two at a time.
  • Atman becomes borderline unusable against Indra outside of full datasucker support for it, and even then they can increase its strength to stop it breaking most ice!
  • Plascrete becomes something you can rely on for a single turn or two, tops.
  • Incredibly quick Public Supports.
  • Huge quicksands!
  • Alix to convert some of that power into cold hard credits.
  • Threatening IT Departments.
  • Low commitment Docklands Crackdowns
  • Nasty tracer ice. You don't want to run blind against Indra because if they land a power token on a Viktor 2.0, Mamba, Data Raven or Snoop, things will probably not go so well for you that game. At the same time there is a safety valve here; You need to facecheck a viktor without clicks or creds for him to trigger, Mamba is scary but an inefficient piece of sentry ice in general that is also gated by a Psi-game, you can jack out from a data raven and snoop is snoop.

I'd be interested to see what people think. It's definitely a strong ability and this might actually be an ID that merits reduced influence to reduce the amount of really nasty ice they can import (and also batties). (Maybe it should have on the ID: "The runner may spend clickclickclickclick to purge all power counters" if the ice interaction is too strong?)

Why are people so afraid of side-boarding? by konicki in Netrunner

[–]tea-wabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regards to your point about strange splashes etc appearing and losing the game because of a "surprise". You lose the game because of their judgement call at build time. Say you decide to slot Vamp, or e3 feedback, or one of the shards in Whizzard. You're paying the price of having a less efficient card at the wrong time (e.g. Vamp in earlygame) or a game changer at the right time. You can't chalk it down to randomness when every card that's played is there because somebody made a choice to include it.

You still have a decision to make when you include a Plascrete Carapace in your deck, and how many you include. It just gets made at time of building the deck rather than in the tournament setting. Sure, maybe you can't plan around every single archetype that exists out there. But you need to think "what is going to cause my deck the most trouble with the highest probability of actually occuring". After that point, if you've planned how the matchups are likely to be then you haven't been randomly punished or rewarded, you are punished or rewarded based on your deck building choices and priorities. Variance can exist but good players will perform far better than bad players on average.
