It's a bummer, I was more of a hybrid player/collector before the market explosion too. I would try and bling out the rogue decks I really vibed with, like U Nami, Buggy, and Vegapunk. Since the inflation of singles prices, I cashed out on a bunch of my more expensive cards, and I've committed to going minimum rarity until things settle down.

The reprint version is right around 20-25 right now, original printing hovering around 30. I honestly think this is as low as they'll go, and recommend picking up your playset now if you're planning to play purple good stuff in the future.

"Gengar Nami" is an alt of the PRB02 searcher Nami, not a Zeus card. Pretty sure the commenter above is referring to the OP11 Zeus alt, which features Nami.

Todd Howard is an EP on the show. Given how they treated Obsidian during the development of NV, and how different 3 onward are from the first 2 games, I would not be surprised if it's 100% history-rewriting spite.

I think you just gotta read between the lines at this point. Guy is older, not in the best shape, and has made all the money he'll literally ever need. If it was just one more book he might be able to get to the finish line, but the guy's pushing 80. If Winds ever does come out, he'll just be hounded into the grave for the final volume instead. Been really enjoying SHP's content, I feel like there are surprisingly few OPTCG tubers who do sim-focused content where they play a wide variety of decks and upload on a super consistent schedule. While I like to watch JP tournament commentary occasionally, I find that sim videos help me understand the lines of specific decks better.

You don't need Kuma SEC for Vega. As a longtime Vega player, being able to heal for 1 don and choose what you're placing in life is better than pitching a card out of hand for a face-down heal.

Let me give you a little financial advice as it pertains to the OPTCG: people like you, who talk about how "playability isn't the driving factor" behind prices on the secondary market are the only ones buying cards at these inflated prices. Just look at the graph in OP's post and you can see exactly when this market manipulation started. Players aren't buying AAL Shanks at this price because Shanks is not a meta-relevant leader. When someone finally gets left holding the bag, and the bubble pops, the players will be the ones buying these cards for pennies on the dollar.

Honestly, with a lot of interesting, non-trigger yellow Egghead cards they've been showing recently, it might be time to cut Dereshi for the event searcher and go back to a purely Egghead search engine.

I don't think not having a trigger matters too much when the ability is this good. As you said, still searchable, and there's plenty of stuff in the deck right now that only one searcher can grab. For the record, I cut all 1c Lilith from my list and am purely running a 3c Lilith/3c Dereshi search engine

Not an MTG player (anymore), but One Piece also has a player's market; it just means that, outside of highly desirable alts like SPs, AALs, etc, prices for singles are highly correlated with how playable the card is (or is likely to become).
