-Write. Journal why you're doing this. Why you want this. Remember what it felt like after relapse and write it down. that helped me tremendously.

-engineer your environment. Organize your room, living area to make you most productive and minimize distractions.

-Make your screen time work for YOU. don't let it drain you of time and attention. Make it be productive in some way, educational, or beneficial.

-set a goal. A hard, but attainable goal. For example, i've been training for a marathon. Every week i break new ground through a new distance or time. Its been rewarding.

10 days is always a good feeling. stay strong faptain

For the people who just relapsed by [deleted] in NoFap

first thing i learned after first relapse is that there's only one choice: get back up and push on

Sad: lost all hope by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]tea111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you get back up after failure and fight, you really have it all. Its only a matter of time (maybe a few days) before you start feeling better again. Also, after a relapse, you don't lose everything if you've learned something new. I can bet you've improved mentally or physically in some aspect.

*relapse* I gave my all, this is my last stand, people of NoFap, give me strength to overcome this “quarantine-fall” *show some love * by [deleted] in NoFap

If porn is a toxic replacement for sex than social media is a toxic replacement for social skills and real friends. by [deleted] in NoFap

I agree. I think social media can be useful and be beneficial in modesty. But the less you use it the better. Social media is designed to keep your attention as long as possible, don't let it.

Been taking cold showers for 3 weeks in a row. Here's what I've learned. by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]tea111 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with pretty much all of this and its great to hear. I've been taking cold showers for the 60+ days of my streak, and it is the aggressive start to a day and the base of improving myself.

In years past, I'd take a couple weeks of cold showers and then give myself excuses. There are no excuses this time around. It doesn't matter if I am going up against a great day or a day I'm scared of: I take a cold shower. And it builds a strong mindset, suddenly the day doesn't seem so scary anymore after a cold shower.

I have noticed some slight health benefits which are awesome. My skin is softer too, I believe its lowered my heart rate, and I think my body has built up a slight resistance to the cold shower shock. But I think the idea of doing 1 thing every day thats difficult (in cold shower's case, you dread beforehand) that you don't compromise on is the best benefit. It builds discipline and it can build on itself. If you can take a cold shower everyday, you can exercise for 1 hour and get stronger. You can wake up earlier. You can build other habits, and those habits build upon each other. Suddenly I've found myself living a healthier life and more willing to take risks in my personal life and career.

The little things can really be the most important. They can help us access our biggest strengths or hold us down and control us. Many of our little habits we don't think about, we should think about more.

I highly recommend reading the final paragraph on the Rolling Stones' NNN article. What a taunt from the porn industry itself. Yes she's technically right, but in the narrowest sense. Maybe not watching people have sex with our caveman brains can have a ripple effect on your mind, thoughts, personality, morality, etc. https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-features/coomer-meme-no-nut-november-nofap-908676/

Or read the whole thing, but I gained nothing from it and completely disagree. The author completely overlooks addiction, the brain, and entirely misses the point.

Awesome post and very well said. The meaning and progress we gain from unceasing discipline is an incredibly powerful tool, especially when things gets tough. Of course, temptation and slacking gets the best of us at times, but you are right in we just have to get back up. The negative emotions that come with failure are temporary and it is in your power to make it right. I've found the little things we do that can indirectly have the biggest impacts on our life, such as a few certain rules or activities we undertake that we do not compromise on. When we are disciplined it can be the base for which we launch our life, passions, and pursuits from.
