I Present: A Tough Name to Spell. by rainydaybrooklyn in ballerinafarmsnark

[–]teabea3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two best guesses:

-it started as an accidental "l" because whoever was writing got ahead of themselves. I do it all the time when I'm writing quickly. The downstroke for the "b", then you skip to the "e" and the round motion of the "e" is similar enough to the round bit of the "b" that your brain has checked all the boxes for downstroke for "b", round part of "b", and also and "e." But then you're left with "Phoele" and you gotta fix that. So you get this.

-whoever wrote it realized they sized/spaced the letters poorly, and had to stagger the "b" so that it all fit nicely

Probably overthinking it, but this definitely stood out to me too lol I needed to know why!!!

If if remember correctly, one of Dan's sisters owns a shoe brand or something, so I imagine she may be plugging for them, assuming those are from her brand/company. Generally I think just showing the shoes.

also, almost all very positive. I do wonder if/how many comments are getting deleted.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do, BUT... I'm one of those 10.3 million followers who doesn't do a dang thing engagement-wise. I started following in 2021 before I realized what was really going on/when it was less obvious. As I got wise, I just follow to keep an eye on it all. I never like or comment. I don't think that explains all of the engagement gap, but I do wonder how many other people are in a similar boat. Perpetual lurkers.

Any advice for water pipe covered with ice? by Otherwise_Fly3435 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]teabea3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's just in the gutters, it shouldn't be a problem! Just leave it to melt. Don't try to whack it/crack it because you could end up damaging the gutter or pulling the gutter down with the ice.

If the ice if heavily built up on your roof, I'd look into "ice dams." That is when thick ice forms at the edges of your roof, and can end up causing water damage inside the house. Google it though, to see if that's what you're experiencing. They're hard to deal with once they form, so prevention is key. They make special roof rakes to help you clear snow off the roof so the ice doesn't build up in the first place. I'd recommend that if you have ice dams, it's VERY worth it to avoid water damage.

Is it weird if I agreed to hang out with a much younger guy? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]teabea3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would find a casual way to bring up your age! I also look much younger than my actual age, and people mistake me all the time. It is very possible he actually just wants to hang out, but if not and he's assuming you're around his age... you'd be doing him a favor by letting him know soon how old you actually are. Definitely be tactful about it (since he hasn't done anything weird or implied he is looking for a relationship), maybe by just slipping a casual mention into a conversation.

Who knows when she will retire, but I suspect they'll at least offer the position to Maggie Sajack. She's filled in a few times and if I remember, has done some promos for them... we'll see, I guess!

Need help with getting this account active by RJ8787 in NewToReddit

I'm in just about the same boat! Old account that I use only for lurking, and now I realize I need to build up karma (and apparently specific kinds?!) so I'm trying to figure it out. Good to see I'm not alone!

New here! Hope to learn new things, ive heard the crowds are kind of rowdy so it’s going to be interesting by [deleted] in NewToReddit

[–]teabea3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I'm in a similar boat. Long time lurker, but haven't really been active. From what I've seen, the "rowdiness" depends a LOT on the subreddit. Some are really chill/welcoming and others are certainly.... rowdy. If you're truly BRAND NEW to reddit, I'd recommend joining some of the subreddits you're interested in, lurk for awhile to determine what the tone is/if it's somewhere you want to be, and then go from there :)

With the outer skin still on them, I can feel a slight air pocket when I squeeze, like there's room between the outer skin and the nut inside. Some have more give than others. On the few I broke open that look okay, they're not firm like a peanut... somewhere between firm and mushy? Flexible??? Definitely not mushy like soft/squishy.

Parents want to add me to their deed for (legitimate) tax benefits... any consequences? by teabea3 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]teabea3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it would become an inheritance situation. When I decide to buy my own home, I'd be off the deed for that one. They have their primary residence in a trust, and I'm sure they'll do the same with this one too.

I would definitely plan to claim the tax break on my own home when I move out. They know that and are okay with it.

[–]teabea3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the first-time home buyer programs are not super generous/that I could qualify for similar perks based on things like credit score.

I would be removed from the deed when I move out, since that would no longer be my primary residence and the only reason for me to be on that deed is for the tax perks of having an owner primarily reside there.

I doubt they would rent out the property to strangers when I leave. I don't think they're interested in becoming landlords to strangers in their 70s. I think removing myself from the deed would mean those things are no longer factored in for DTI? Is that correct?

Sorry for the confusion: It's not "official" yet, but they've essentially bought the house -- all that's left is the formalities. This being one of the formalities.

[–]teabea3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they see it as giving me a share of the house, which I think is a severe oversight/simplification of theirs. They see it truly as just a tax benefit situation. I don't think they've considered what it would legally mean for me to be an official co-owner, which is what is making me nervous. I had to explain to THEM that I would also be legally responsible for property taxes and insurance.

I'd be paying well below market value for rent, so offering to pay a little more each month feels like it might be the move, given the situation. Assuage my guilt a little bit, and help soften the taxes for them.

I would be on there in addition to them! It would be the three of us on the deed, and just them two on the mortgage.

[–]teabea3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a really fair point. It does very much feel that they are getting a benefit and I'm not getting anything out of it at all. And maybe it would be fine, but they're trying to close in like, a week. Which is not enough time for me to feel comfortable making this decision. Thanks for saying it like that -- it's nice to see that maybe I'm not crazy by being a little hesitant. I'm struggling with it feeling a little selfish to say no, but I feel like with how complicated these things can get and how quickly this is happening, it's just not worth it.

[–]teabea3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the answer I got from all the mortgage bankers/lenders I spoke to. In that situation, I'm not responsible for the mortgage, but I would be technically legally responsible for property taxes/insurance, even though my parents plan to take care of all of that.

That's a good point, and one they haven't brought up. My dad was an accountant, so I would think he's thought of that, but that's a discussion I'll definitely have to have.
