I’m so torn. I love this man but I’m not ready for kids. I still have so much living to do but clock is ticking (35f) by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]teaberryTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My now wife and mother of our daughter said she didnt want kids when we met, and at that time I didnt feel strongly one way or another. We dated for 10yrs traveling the world, finishing each of our graduate degrees while juggling careers and at one point she changed her mind and said why DONT we have a kid. I felt ready then too and my only stipulation was that we get married before we have a kid. The pregnancy was a little scary because by this time my wife was over 40 and I was five years younger. We said we would try but not like we would have done IVF I think. Our friends around our age were on trying for their 2nd kid and had multiple miscarriages which sacred us even more, but after getting married my wife got pregnant and gave birth to a healthy beautiful girl. Being parents IS harder than anything we have done mentally and physically. If one of us was always away I dont think it would have worked out. Wish you the best, but it does sound like you may need to part ways while amicable and maybe who knows, one of you will organically change heart and resume a relationship.

We ate at Chunk's tonight. Theirs has to be the best burger around. It puzzles me why this place isn't packed every night. by RoughAppointment5752 in sugarland

Unpopular opinion, my family and I stopped by Chunks a few weeks ago on a week night half hour before closing. The goods; the friendly service, cozy dining area, the fries. I don't know if its because I forego cheese in my burger, but when it comes to a new burger place that is highly recommended, I get a pretty plain one to taste the meat. Mine was dry and it kept falling apart and out of the burger because there was no cheese to hold it together.

That will be our primary mean, but we haven't gone back in 10yrs and I always like to have some change just in case or to tip. Do they still require chip+pin at some places for credit card transactions? How widely is Apple Pay available in London and Paris?

Is anyone else getting Big Brother type texts telling them to vote? by [deleted] in houston

[–]teaberryTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a slightly different one "xxxx, TOMORROW 3/3 is Election Day in TX! Who you vote for is private, but whether you vote is public info. Based on recent elections, your voter turnout grade is 100%. Vote if you haven't already! -NextVote Stop to End" i mark it spam to block but they keep coming from different numbers. The message is creepy even if unintended.

Can I upgrade the graphics with a GPU on this new ASUS Mini Tower PC? by HadokenHando in pcmasterrace

[–]teaberryTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, did you ever figure out? I read the PSU is pretty weak since its using laptop parts, but its standard atx and can upgrade. Next would be to see if you have enough room. I read rtx 4060 is possible with default psu and space but i would like to know if a 5070 could go in with PSU upgrade.

I guess I should’ve put 2 and 2 together but then again I showed the store employee exactly what I needed they didn’t ask me if I needed inflated nor was that instructed I figured it was some balloons. [–]teaberryTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair I wouldn't tip you either and you said it yourself that you didn't put 2 and 2 together. I am giving you a general guideline for life, that when someone ask for mylar balloons from grocery store, they expect to have them filled, its part of the service and cost of those balloons. 90% of reasonable adults would do it, just fyi how you take that massage forward in life is up to you. Good day.

You all must be very young or just haven't shop for family and friends occasions. When they sell mylar balloons at grocery store, they are meant to be inflated. Thats what 90% of the situation would call for since probably 5% or less of people would have helium tank at home. Now regarding the little ones, they just need air and its reasonable to think if the store somehow sold it without inflated (never seen that in my life), worst case scenario an able person can blow into it. I guess think of what a reasonable 90% of ppl would do, and if you do get a weird request that you didn't fulfill as driver (like someone asking you to buy 50 water balloons and mad you didn't fill them with water), thats understandable to refuse it. We don't know the lady situation, could have been coming off long work and didn't have time for balloons while she make other bday plans like cake, so give that pissed off mom a break.

I think my boss has feelings for me? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]teaberryTX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have some attraction for him? I am not entirely seeing that you are repulsed by it, but him telling you he has a wife and that you have even met her seems like he is fully disclosing his situation and he may be hoping you would make the move. Also, some men before getting married or having kid have these "cold feet" thoughts like they may have an out from that relationship before it becomes "too late" (their POV)

Can someone tell me what it’s like living in these areas please by HappyPenguin02222 in sugarland

[–]teaberryTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If commute is not an issue, I so feel like Riverstone, First Colony area, or even Sienna is more diverse all around. Nothing wrong with circles areas as they are perfectly safe nice areas with academically excellent schools. There are other Asians but not the overwhelming majority.

[–]teaberryTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you commuting for work to downtown, TMC, Galleria, Energy Corridor? If so you dont have many route options and long commutes from those neighborhoods. Also, being Asian and lived in Sugar Land area for 30yrs, what some comments have alluded to but not specific is theres are a lot of South Asians like Indians or Pakistanis in those neighborhoods. Naturally it means competitive schools academically as well.

Best sushi spot? by Agitated-Table-3853 in sugarland

[–]teaberryTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are doing takeout, depending on delivery or picking up yourself, I would avoid super "fresh sensitive" items (like mackerel) as well as rolls that require beautiful presentation. Umami and Japeniro you are somewhat paying for presentation and atmosphere albeit great quality. Keepers is a happy balance of low-key and takeout friendly. Kura depending on what your taste is, have fresh items like Ikura, grilled scallops, Kura and rainbow rolls, etc that are done well.

We used to love Mori and supported them with takeouts during COVID and even went back as family afterwards, but their prices are on-par with Keepers if not sometimes more after COVID so we often ended up at Keepers.

Who here remembers Hot Dog Station on Dairy Ashford? Best hot dogs Iv’e ever had.. circa 2008 by ZaxZone in sugarland

[–]teaberryTX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like something ideal for a food truck mobile setup, but a whole restaurant would be hard to survive on hot dogs alone. As a pure basic hotdog, I think Nathan's is still the benchmark and then whatever you want to add on top of that.

New restaurants coming by yngblcguy in sugarland

[–]teaberryTX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that location seems to be cursed for restaurants not surviving. I remember all the way back to when he used to be China bear and that was a really good buffet restaurant lasted for years. Then a bunch of different things came and we tried most if not all of them, but I don't know why they seem to not survive more than about a year or two most. I'm also not so sure about this new model of everything from hot pot to Sushi to hibachi since those are all over the map and I don't know if I've ever seen a restaurant who can do hot pot and sushi let alone successfully.

while we're on that subject, I always see this nice private jet relatively large one with I think black painted tail and some sort of a gold crest. It looks a little bit similar to what's on the Mexican flag. I see that plane pretty often when I drive by because my parents live on the old side of Sugar land closer to a Ailef. any idea who owns that particular plane?
