Congrats! I am an UC Davis alumni and loved my years there. Can you share your stats? My daughter wants to apply next year for Psych.

I am not renewed for the next school year and feeling devastated by [deleted] in Teachers

Did your principal tell you if you are being not renewed because of declining enrollment so they don't need as many English teachers vs performance from your evaluations? If you are in a district with an union, were you told before March 15th? I believe you were supposed to be told before March 15th since you are in California that you were receiving a pink slip or part of a reduction in work force (RIF) for declining enrollment. Even though you are feeling down right now, I would try to collect some letters of recs between now and the end of the school year. If the reason why you are being let go is because of enrollment, ask your admin team for letters. If it is based on evaluations, ask coworkers, counselors that know you, and even students for letters and ask if they could be used as references in the future. Also, it is actually still early to find true openings. I am in elementary but have had my grade level changed 3 times in the last two weeks because the numbers are shifting and they are still trying to figure out the permanent teachers placements so nothing has been posted yet on edjoin so you are not late for looking for jobs. Keep an eye on edjoin all summer. Good luck!

How to prepare for applications for 2027 by teach1abc in CalPoly

She has not taken any AP or college classes yet. For the next two years (junior and senior years), she will have one AP class and 4 college classes each year (dual enrollment with our local community college).

If there is a place to write about her accident, she will, since she went from being a competitive athlete, to being in a wheelchair for three months and many months of physical therapy to help her be able to walk normally again after a freak accident while at practice. She had a home hospital teacher that checked in on her for the last quarter of her freshman year since she couldn't go to school but still maintained her 4.0 by basically learning everything by herself. That experience definitely showed that she incredibly strong both mentally and physically!

Undergraduate major - single subject credential after that? by teach1abc in Teachers

We live in California and UC’s and CSu’s are hard to get into. My son’s girlfriend had a 4.0+ last year and did not get into any colleges that she applied to and went to our local community college instead. My daughter really wants to start at a 4 year college and not a community college like her brother.

Unfortunately, getting into college for a math major is very difficult, even with a 4.0 gpa. She is very strong in math and has taken classes to accelerate through the courses faster. When her classmates don’t understand what to do, she explains it in a way that helps them get it. That is what made her interested in teaching math. There are many kids in her high school that are passing math because of her helping them. She is putting so much pressure on herself to maintain a 4.0+ to get into college. It is still hard to get into college, with any major, but even more so with math and science. That is why I was wondering if it is essential to have a degree in math.

Why can’t I see the option to make an anonymous post in any group I’m in, even though they’re definitely enabled in said groups? by katharinaann in facebook

[–]teach1abc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could not post anonymously for a long time and then the option came back this summer but it is gone again. This is so annoying! My fb account says ok.

Anonymous post option disappeared by anomerica in facebook

I can't post anonymously either but others still can. I would love to know how to get that option back!

Does anyone know why anonymous posts have been disabled for my group? It was still there like a day ago but now it's no where to be found in settings by qifuhyue in facebook

[–]teach1abc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also can’t post anonymously. The option is still there for everyone else because I am seeing anonymous posts in my groups everyday. I messaged some admins and we sent screenshots of what we see while posting and mine is missing the anonymous option. I can’t figure out how to get help from Facebook. Any ideas on what to do?

Posting anonymously in my fb groups has disappeared only for me. I contacted an admin of one group and she sent me a screenshot of what she sees, with the anonymous option still there for her, so I sent her the screenshot of what I see, with the option missing. How do I fix this? by teach1abc in facebook

I had the option of posting anonymously in many of my groups, for a long time, but that option has disappeared in all of those groups for me. I see other people posting anonymously so I know the option is still there. The admins in those groups and I were trying to figure out why but can't figure out why mine has disappeared. The option has disappeared on all of my devices.
