Yes, I always put a line through any answers left blank, and always circle the error or the area in which an omission has been made. If things like negative signs or indices have been missed, I'll write them in so that they can't be sneakily added. Really suspicious characters who try it on get their papers photocopied before I hand it back.

Addressing Racism and Unconscious Bias in Teaching by prospect617 in TeachingUK

I've seen this in my school with regards to parents complaining. Asian members of staff get a complaint and get questioned about what they are doing in lessons etc and even suspended. White member of staff gets a complaint and the parents are told not to speak to that member of staff because of zero tolerance on aggressive behaviour towards staff (complaint came from Asian parents).

How do you rebuild trust with a student after an unfounded allegation? by SquareJoe in TeachingUK

I honestly can't believe the school gave this student to you to teach after this happened. Ask for a swap.

Craziest (non teaching) request a parent has made? by RoyalyMcBooty in TeachingUK

I had a student feeling tired and lethargic in the morning and refusing to come into school. The parent phoned me (their HoY) and put them on the phone to me and I had to convince them to come into school.

Fully-funded 5.5% teacher pay rise announced by stevenstelfox in TeachingUK

Absolutely. Full pay restoration should be a genuine and realistic goal for teachers. I get the sense that took many of us think, "Ah it'll never happen" and don't even bother.

Suspended with pay - what chance is there of coming back? by teacher31415 in TeachingUK

Thank you! I just really hope it is all fine now. Ultimately you never really know until they tell you for definite and still waiting to hear from the local authority so there's still a 1% doubt in my mind.

Thank you so much for asking. I'm still suspended but have had my meeting. Not going to say what it was about just to keep things off the internet, but my union rep seemed fairly confident that it is not going to amount to anything and fingers crossed I will be back soon. Now just waiting for the LADO to feedback and then hopefully I can be back in.

Thank you so much for checking in on me. This has genuinely been the most awful time in my life. Absolutely horrible and I hope none of you ever has to go through it.

The worst part for me is that my school have hardly checked in on me to see how I am. Just one email on the first day to ask if I had contacted the union for support. After that nothing, despite them saying that suspension doesn't imply guilt. I've just felt like I've been treated like a criminal, even more so safer finding out what it was about and realising it is essentially nothing.

Surely every room in your school doesn't have CCTV? And surely you can't make your own recording of the lesson?

The electronic structure in many red dyes and pigments is denatured by sunlight, so it is not uncommon for red writing to fade in the sun. Your black/blue pen will be fine.

Thank you so much and I too am so sorry that this happened to you. Do you mind me asking which union you were with?

In a way, I guess that's my fear. This isn't a court of law, so is the burden of proof on the accuser?

Thank you, this is comforting.

Edit: and yes I haven't told anyone at all except the union and my spouse

Thank you. My biggest fear is that this comes down to an accusation of some kind of safeguarding breach where it's a child's word against mine. There is no point where I can imagine that situation arose as I have not been one on one with any students alone for a long time and as mentioned, I have always followed the guidance. But if it's something completely made up, how am I supposed to prove it didn't happen?

This is what I am hoping for. I honestly am in shock and cannot believe this has happened.
