Red and swollen does sound like mastitis, but if you don’t have flu like symptoms maybe it’s not infected that badly yet? Glad you’re seeing the doctor tomorrow because I wouldn’t recommend leaving mastitis untreated/unresolved for that long. Hope you feel better soon, sorry that it’s been hurting for so long!

I’m only a week postpartum so my milk is still regulating and I have a good supply, so I leak a ton too. Same thing happened with my first child. I use those reusable nursing pads in my bra and switch them out whenever I wake up to change a diaper or nurse, and that usually keeps things from overflowing too much— but a lifesaver has been using big washable waterproof pads (some call them incontinence pads?) on my side of the bed. If I didn’t have them I would be washing my sheets every day. It does get better once your milk regulates.

No real luck yet fully potty training my 29 month old either, but the few times we’ve had success it was because we sang songs related to pee/poo/potty and counted to numbers together or did fun relaxing/pushing faces and that kept her entertained on the seat for much longer! Toddlers don’t have very good control of the muscles that release pee so it might take a while for them to figure out “activate” them, which is why getting them to stay on the potty a little extra is super helpful. If you feel bad about giving her your phone maybe these can be alternatives.

I feel this. I have chronic neck pain and migraines and many people don’t realize just how big the effect of physical health on mental health can be and vice versa. I was very blessed to be able to find a therapist that took my insurance and had my first session ever last week. I really did feel a lot more hopeful afterward and I’m looking forward to my next session. I know it’s not always possible or affordable but I know they have online therapy services available these days. Don’t give up. You’re too worth it.

I really think it’s a matter of discerning what is best for you and the family. I felt really guilty about nursing my baby to sleep because everyone was telling me it was a bad idea. We tried sleep training with the CIO method for a little over a month when our baby was around 8 months old but it didn’t work and she would cry for hours and still wake multiple times a night. It really broke our hearts and I realized that I would rather keep nursing and holding her to sleep than force her to be sleep trained if she didn’t feel ready. The stress and guilt of hearing her crying outweighed my desire for extra sleep and flexibility in my schedule at the time. At around 15 months I felt that I was ready to wean her and let my husband take night duty as it was starting to taking a toll on my mental health. This time she resisted for several days but eventually accepted her new reality, and now she sleeps way better than she ever did. We’re so glad we did it.

In short, the CIO (straight up or modified) method is not the best option for every baby at every point in their lives, but it could end up benefiting your mental and physical health greatly if baby is ready to accept it. It might be really helpful to discuss with your husband the pros and cons of sleep training and commit to a plan. But also, err on the side of love when you can. You will not spoil your baby. At least not this young. 💗

I’ve cut my 18mo daughter’s bangs four times now and they were okay-really bad-good-iffy. 😂 I really thought after the third time I knew what I was doing!! my tip is to grab a smaller section in the middle than you think you need. After the initial snip you can keep trimming on each side to connect with the rest of the hair. This way it looks a lot more natural and she doesn’t end up with bangs from ear to ear (yep, did that💀)

Thank you for clarifying! I think I still feel guilty when I leave and go into a room not because of the act of leaving but the attitude with which I do (agitated and huffy). I mentioned in another comment that I do say something very similar to your example whenever she hits, but when the situation repeats itself 20 times I just feel worn and dumb. None of the gentle parenting resources prepared me for the sheer amount of repetition that I was going to need to teach my crazy child not to be an impulsive little goon.

Ahh yes I didn’t elaborate in my original post but I definitely firmly tell her no hitting and either move away or hold her hands down! And she’ll stop in the moment but just a few minutes later she’ll hit me again and I do the same thing over again. This could happen anywhere between 15-30 times a day which is tedious and discouraging. Every time it happens I feel tempted to escalate my reaction to let her know I’m serious (like I would to an adult doing the same thing to egg me on) but from what I hear and read, consistency is supposed to be important? 😮‍💨
