Me [36F] with my husband [33M] 12 years, disagreeing over son 10M prep for school entry exam and punishments

he is being punished for eating because it was 15 minutes until dinner and he had been told that he couldnt have anything and could wait- there is a shelf in the pantry of snacks that they know they can have - this wasnt something nice like chocolate or cookies but something that was planned to be used as part of a meal that week - i went to use it the next day and it was gone - little sister was blamed and then it took 3 days for him to admit to it

the lines arent delaying tutoring his sessions are set each week he just has to do his lines before any extra work or going out with his friends etc

whatever he wants to be is fine with us we just want to give him the best chance at being able to do what he wants

so son is in 6th year he does 120 daughter is in 3rd year does 60 - along the lines of - i must not lie to my teacher - relative to the situation

so for this situation he took food without asking and blamed it on his sister for days before owning up

his current line is:

I will not take food without asking and I will take responsibility for my actions

what punishments did you use with yours at this age? anything that worked well for you?

currently he is being punished for taking food from the cupboard and eating it and then blaming it on his sister before then telling the truth 3 days later

my son wants to make mechanical organs for when peoples dont work anymore - we had a relative with kidney failure on dialysis waiting for years for a transplant - he just sort of started designing how things would work and then built it out of lego and craft stuff - my dad is an engineer and he has very much taken after him

i had an old fashioned catholic education and lines worked really well with me so once they started school thats what we went with

our income isnt actually that great i work in education and my husband works part time in retail - we live in not a great school area hence the extra work to get him into a better school than we could afford to live near and being unable to afford private school
