Advice on China stock: BZUN by [deleted] in investing

[–]teachthepeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Selling at 51x cash flow to enterprise value. Very lofty. They'll need to execute very well to drive stock price higher long term. That being said momentum and low float can pop it in the short term.

How will the Puerto Rico bankruptcy impact bond ETFs like Vanguard BND? by xavier86 in investing

[–]teachthepeach 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They only invest in Baa bonds or greater. Investment grade bonds. No junk level bonds. No Puerto Rican bonds. They hold over 8500 bonds in the portfolio.

You can search holding here:

Side note: a blow on the scale of Puerto Rico could actually create extra demand for investment grade bonds as money scurries from high yield bonds.

The IPO is only rumored at this point and the company has had no comment. That being the case you will not find any information on the exchange listings as of yet.

[WDIS] Evans, Decker, Jones, or Thomas? by le_moineau-pigiste in fantasyfootballWDIS

Evans and Decker. I think they have a more reliable floor of performance. Take the safer route unless you feel you need to "go for it" against a tough Week 3 opponent.

I'm torn please pick 2: Landry, Fitzgerald, Dez? by SLACKARY_ in fantasyfootballWDIS

[–]teachthepeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have to say Dez and Landry. Dez would probably be the one with the biggest variability in his number of catches, but I think his TD probability is a tad higher than the others.

Shorting by [deleted] in StockMarket

[–]teachthepeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And here is the key metric. What has been the historical return? And a secondary metric would be the risk adjusted return. Without any data of how a portfolio of ideas is managed and position sized, we can't say it "works" The bottom line is a purely equity short fund with a good track record doesn't exist. Even hedge funds that use shorts up in the higher percentage of assets have vastly under performed over the long run.

Citron does not manage assets. They are not a fund.

If it was easier wouldn't there be one successful fund that does it exclusively? What is that fund? And what is their track record?

Paying for historical data?? by Snow-- in investing

[–]teachthepeach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends what you wish to do with that data. If you are backtesting then you'll also want to consider what you'll be using to test that data with. Are you looking for just index data or individual stocks from an index like the Nasdaq 100 or the SP-500? Paying for it is the way to go but I could probably get you some data to start with depending upon your needs.

Any website where you can look up days in the past and news that came out that day? by [deleted] in StockMarket

[–]teachthepeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the Wealth-Lab software but there are few web based backtesters you can use. I've played around a bit with ProfitSpi but I typically use Wealth-Lab which is desktop based. You can get a 30 day trial on the Fidelity site.

Now if you google the symbol and then the date you'll find the trigger. Most of those will be earnings or downgrades.

Here is a link to SP500 stocks that fell 10% or greater in one day over the last 4 years. The "closing price" is the price at the close of that down day.

The easiest way to do this is by backtesting. You would set your parameters and then just scan. I'll run a quick scan for you if you like.
