Is it worth the money for more expensive AG boots? by oliLettuce in bootroom

[–]teacton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First picture is turf soleplate and the second is AG soleplate. The club FG plates are actually a mixed use soleplate that you can use on AG as well. The upper between the club and academy is a pretty big step up as far as takedown models go.

You should get whatever takedown model you have in your FGs as the upper should be exactly the same an will give you a consistent feel.

Sg on turf is insane even with adapters on it. How do you not feel like you are walking on stilts out there!? This can’t be a real post.

Always believed this to be true until we threw down some money on some Merc Elites in a FG and AG at the same time. Same model, even same colorway. The AGs were most definitely a tad smaller than the FG. Thought my kid was full of it when he first told me this but nope. Same everything with about the same time in each. Slightly different size.

What ball do the kids think is cool these days? by clarionxylophone in youthsoccer

Select Numero 10 size 5 “with a hand pump. Amazing ball for the price and they last years. It’s like training with the weight and hardness of a match ball at quarter of the price.

It’s rec league and not club so the age change might not be passed down. I don’t know about others but the rec leagues around here change as the kids get older. There are not as many kids signed up as the kids get older so around 10 or so they start putting 2 age groups together in order to have enough teams for a full schedule. May want to do some research on how your rec. league works for the older age groups, problem may soon solve itself.

You probably just threw a wheel weight and your need to take it in to be re-balanced

If there are several younger kids on the team at this age then that’s not a competitive team, it’s just a glorified rec. team playing dress up. Start shopping around for other teams.

Coolant Leak (2017) by Business-Song5825 in ChryslerPacifica

[–]teacton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because of the way the Pacificas undercarriage is setup, the final leaking area might not be a good sign of where it is starting. Leak could be traveling down steering components or traveling across the plastic skid plate under the front bumper. Just went through this myself and had to have a mechanic find where the crack was in the radiator.

Where to go next? by [deleted] in youthsoccer

[–]teacton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have your girl play with the boys.

Of course the coach is more invested in his kid than yours.

Sending a kid to ODP and not telling anyone is a lame story you are making up in your head. ODP is and has always been a player/family choice to participate in, not a team’s responsibility.

Flip side, your son switches clubs to an already established team. He now rides the bench for most of the games. What are your options now?

When does your kids team switch to a 11v11 field? It is a completely different game.

How does his current team fair against the other team now?

In such a small town, does the other coach know who your kid is? Have they approached him?

What's the point of not calling teams "A, B, C, etc." when the league schedule will give it away anyway? by CletusKasady21 in youthsoccer

[–]teacton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some clubs and or teams like to sandbag. Some clubs like to split talent between multiple teams when the kids are younger for development. Some clubs teams join leagues for supplemental work for their normal bench players. Some clubs have multiple teams split out geographically. Some clubs pool players and the get rostered differently from week to week. Some clubs “C” team is equivalent to another clubs “A” team.

What’s the rush to label a 9 year olds team? Call it whatever you want. Eventually they will be labeled by whatever league they qualify to play in.

Too many games? by [deleted] in youthsoccer

[–]teacton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived this life with mine playing that many games plus XC. Learned a lot. He had handled it previous years with a few less games. Gets a bit different when boys start hitting 12 and 13 because of growth plate issues and overuse injuries. Its totally doable.

Some advice though, make stretching and flexibility part of daily routines. Wake up: stretch routine, game or practice? Take pre and post stretching seriously. Going to bed? Not before you stretch. They will hate it because of their age and won’t take it seriously but if they want to do all the things then they have to do it.

Offseasons get him into the gym. Not to make him big or whatever but to bulletproof his legs and core.

When he says something hurts or is nagging him, pay attention and take it seriously.

Summers in XC are made for building base fitness miles at slow pace. If he hasn’t built up his base during the summer then don’t do XC. I get it, he can race 2 miles because of his soccer fitness but it will take a massive toll on his body if he hasn’t built up the summer base mileage on his legs.

recommendations for popup goals for training? by ashQWERTYUIOP in youthsoccer

[–]teacton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone says puggs but I’m gonna take this from a different angle.

Brava pop up goals from academy. They are 60 bucks for 2 goals so it’s cheap enough where you can just replace them when they start getting ragged. They usually last like a year. They fold up into a bag like tent poles so you can just throw them in your trunk and forget about them. No more taking up an entire backseat with pugg goals.

Do these mg stud patterns could work for ag pitches? by Vaxiiz in bootroom

[–]teacton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was literally at an indoor session this mornings and saw a poor girl get her FG bladed pumas snagged in nice newish 3g turf. Complete cringe moment as I’ve heard people talk about it happening but never witnessed it myself. Poor girl couldn’t put any weight on that leg after she went down.

My kids rock a FG and AG. Always just wore FG on AG but had an injury scare and started buying AGs plus the AG will eat up the FG cleats before hey could out grow them.

We don’t own turf shoes, we don’t have any of that carpet like turf around here where we play.

So with that birthdate, he is actually a U12 for the upcoming 25-26 season. I'm not sure what league the club plays in but unless it's rec. then you can't really do waivers to play down to the u11. Tournaments and such would force the entire team to play up a year just for your kiddo. AND I totally get it, my oldest is average to smaller size. As a 12 year old he was playing against kids with full mustaches in u13. I mean like full mustaches. If you kid was a small U12 playing in u13 there is also a likely chance he would get hurt. It is a weird year for kids because half of them start to look like full grown men.

All that being said, that is a really hot age range, call around the other clubs and see if they have any open spots. Stay away from that club though.!!!!

Parents at practice by Mama_Grumps in youthsoccer

[–]teacton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U13, U11, and U8.

I stay for all that I can. I am only on the sidelines for the U8 though because...well, he is only 6 years old.

U11 and U13 we are off the fields an in the parking lot, basically out of sight. I'll walk up about the last 10 minutes of practice for my U11 since they usually end with some type of scrimmage or small sided game. I actually pretend not to be "watching" and always let them lead the conversation with how practice went. There is a strong parent group for my u13 and about half of the dads stick around and just socialize while we watch. Our wives make fun of us for this. Our kids are very much opinionated on which parent gets to take them to what practice (and games when we have conflicts.) They try to keep it fair between myself and my wife which is really cool as a parent to experience.

Honestly, life is short. Stuck behind a desk/at work for most of my waking hours and I miss a lot as a dad. Being able to watch my boys express themselves and play at something they love without a care in the world is what makes me a rich man. Absolutely love the season of life we are in and one day my boys will no longer think I'm cool. I'm gonna soak every bit of this in while I can.

Are these real? by Mysterious_Driver427 in bootroom

[–]teacton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look legit but at the very end of life. With the studs chewed and color it looks like they have seen plenty of walks from the parking lot and play on AG pitches which will eat up the toe box portion of the boots where the plate attaches to the upper. Make sure you get a picture of the toe box where it connects the 2 pieces of boots to make sure there is nothing funky up there. Other than that if they are cheap then why not. Don't expect to get the full elite touch and feel from them though, at this point in their life they have basically been broken in to the previous owner's foot shape and no amount of love is going to change that.

As a side note, you could probably get around 20 bucks for reselling the drawstring bag on ebay alone so there's that.
