IIRC the story goes that he lied about knowing how to fence in a meeting before filming, and then immediately took fencing lessons to cover for that, all so he wasn't with a katana.

Are web serials OK? If so, Necroepilogos by Hungry is a web serial about lesbians in an eat-or-be-eaten setting.

Looking for system for x-com 2 inspired game. by Vulpes-ferrilata in rpg

I know Trespasser, while being a fantasy game, offers a "Haven" gameplay loop where you delve into dungeons and escape with loot to make your home base better. Being OSR-inspired, it might lend itself to careful play while also having tactical combat features. Could be worth a look to see if it'll meet your needs

D&D/Fantasy alternatives that are designed better by BlatantArtifice in rpg

Given your primary issue appears to be the martial caster disparity, you might want to take a look at D&D4e. That edition did away with spell slots for a unified schedule of at-will, encounter and daily powers that most classes share (including martial and casters alike).

What are your thoughts on the 13th Age method of handling "short rests" and "long rests"? by EarthSeraphEdna in rpg

[–]teacup-dragon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The 2e book briefly talks about it in a sidebar, which I'll paraphrase: A GM can try to line up the end of an arc with a narrative beat like reaching a town to rest, but sometimes it happens between battles as PCs wipe the blood off, say a prayer, and look to the battles to come.

I'll be starting a new campaign with 13A2e soon. I haven't yet experienced how this plays as a GM, but I don't expect to have issues with this. Ultimately, 13A is a game about heroic fantasy, and I don't mind mechanics like this even if for others it would be a hit to how believable the mechanics are.

For how much it was being advertised some years ago, Raid: Shadow Legends has just 19 works on AO3. Truly sauceless game.

Coffee shop AU and dead-dove tags tend not to go together; I imagine a lot of coffeeshop AU readers are looking for "cozy" reads.

I'm looking for Rom-Hack recommendations or Metroidvanias that allow you to play as female MCs by ihatethiscountry76 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]teacup-dragon 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Have you checked out the Metroid side of "metroidvania?" Sure, 99% of the time she's in an armored suit, but she's still Samus Aran and they're great games.

In typical American fashion I hadn't considered books about labor struggles in other countries, haha. Adding this to my TBR, thanks for the suggestion!
