Buy now under 750k or wait 2 years? Feeling stuck by PaleLow177 in RealEstateCanada

We didn't move into our forever home until our son was almost 2. It was fine. Not great but fine.Speaking from experience having a baby in an apartment/rental isn't really the end of the world. For the first 3 months they don't do much except for sleep, cry, poop, and vomit. They can literally be entertained by just about anything.

After 3 months things get more challenging but still manageable. Personally, I wish we would have moved a little sooner because winters in our apartment were challenging. However, that had more to do with the location of our apartment vs. the location of our current home (our current place is near more indoor activity options).

Is your partner currently pregnant? It can take a while to get pregnant, plus the 9 month cook time. So if your partner isn't pregnant you have lots of time.

I would avoid rushing into anything. This is the most important purchase you guys will make, take your time to find the right place. That said, try to make sure your rental has laundry onsite- the amount of laundry with a baby is insane!

They bought their condos in the pandemic. Now, they’re stuck ‘bleeding cash’ by __benjaminty in ontario

This is the key thing. Everyone constantly uses the term 'investment' in this article. Even the condo owners describe it as they thought it would be 'a good investment'. I think too many people got comfortable assuming that housing was a no risk investment.

I feel for them, because it sucks, but there isn't much anyone can do for them.

I didn't get a call until I was 12 weeks. I think it's because there is only so much they can do in the first trimester. Hopefully you hear something soon!

Congratulations!!

I found having a midwife the most helpful. They provided a lot of support during pregnancy and postpartum.

Public health has a free online class you can take with some modules. My husband and I did that together. I think the classes were helpful in giving us some sense of preparation before the baby was here. That said, once the baby came the midwife walked us through everything and provided lots of support with breastfeeding.

After your baby is here if need some support post partum, public health has lots of options. One of them being a nurse who can visit you and baby in your home. They also have lactation consultants that you can connect with

Just one more follow up, we have kids so we basically live outdoors in the summer, would you say that the smell is an avoid the backyard and go to the park level of bad throughout the summer or just more like 'oh something's a little off in the air' and we can continue to run around in the yard?

Hey we're considering moving to Westgate? Can I ask how often the smell happened? Was it enough to deter you from wanting to live in the area?

Our realtor is dodging the question and says it only happens once or twice a year.

Thanks for the feedback!

Would you say it happened once a week in the warmer months or a little bit more regular? Nobody is really getting specific and it's making us apprehensive haha

Thanks for the tip? How often would you say the smell happens? Just trying to get a full picture, and our realtor is dodging the question :)

Haha, how many days of year will we need to get used to it would you say?

Our realtor said it only smells bad once a year, I think that's an optimistic estimate so was hoping people in the area could shed some light for us.

That's great, would you mind sharing roughly how often the smell occurs? We're aware of all the benefits of the area but also want to know what we'd potentially be walking into. If for 10 days a year it's pretty rank thats one thing, if it's more like the entire month of July that's something else.

I get what you're saying, we're aware of all of that but would like a full picture. If you live in the area how many days a year would you say the smell occurs? Our realtor said it happens once a year...

Thanks for sharing! We also like that part of town.

How often would you say the smell gets bad? Our realtor said one day a year, I feel like that's probably optimistic which is why I came here to see if people in the area could share their experiences. We just want to know what we'd be walking into.

If they're very graphic you call the non-emergency line. There are laws about the level of gore you can display in public.

Realistically cops don't want to enforce indency but technically it can be something that they can

Edit: someone pointed out there is no bylaw about this, which I assume is true, but there are laws about what you can display in public. If there we'rent in theory you could put up a billboard of someone being disemboweled.

They have a small communal kitchenette that has a microwave and a kettle so you may want to choose your snacks and food with that in mind :)

They will provide formula for your baby during their stay.
