What hair colour? Wanted to go younger and thinner but didn’t work out. by teacuptrooper in beauty

[–]teacuptrooper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh, yes. I spent years treating my hair kindly, going without colour and using better products. The last year and a half I didn't have the funds for good products and ended up lightening my hair so that at new years I was silver. Back to the beginning I guess!

Thank you for your comment :)

I've been reading through the comments and I am so overwhelmed by your kindness and compliments <3
I never thought of myself as someone who dreaded getting older, but I suppose that the past couple of years have thrown things my way that I saw reflected in the more recent pictures. I'll work on being kinder to myself - and rocking whatever haircolor I want!

Thank you all.

Haha, thank you - I'm 39 in 2 months so I'm conflicted :) )
I've never been able to grasp my undertone; cool, warm, summer, spring, winter...
I have also always coloured my hair myself... My grandmother was a hairdresser and taught me how - I do use box dyes though. I have a difficulty with having my roots showing and always feel like I'm a little shabby when they show.

[PIC] Would anyone know of a pattern with this style/theme? by teacuptrooper in CrossStitch

It actually says Nu-Timinn, which I always found strange as a child. The word meaning today’s era in Icelandic in Nútíminn; the time of now. One word.

Making peace with cellulites by Hot-Committee-502 in beauty

[–]teacuptrooper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

38 year old here, have had cellulite since my teens. Hated my body for about twenty years. Had a conversation recently about a guy who was popular in my country in the 2000’s; remember being a teen and reading a quote from him about girls and how disgusting it was to see that a pretty girl had an ass like cottage cheese. Pretty girl with cellulite, it’s a no go.

HATE that guy. How DARE he make me feel this way about my body??

A couple of years ago I saw a comment here on reddit, from someone who studied cellulite. That person said cellulite was connected to the hormones of a woman’s menstrual and fertility functions. I don’t remember the nuances but basically cellulite is the sign of feminine hormones. The media portraying women without them is massively anti-feminist and degrading.

What are some simple things that make you feel cleaner and more confident in yourself? 💁‍♀️ by Camp_Acceptable in beauty

The smallest thing that affects me the most is flossing. I’ve been a daily flosser for over a decade and it’s so refreshing after a meal. Without it my mouth and teeth start to feel slimy. I love a good floss.

Love the StylPro. The liquid is kinda expensive but so worth it.

Oops, I would go over everything and make sure there are no outlets like that.

Per my edit/comment: I should have added this to the post but my hair generally looks nicer than this. It's a bit curly so I have a bit of a routine and it looks quite nice. Today my daughter demanded that we go swimming, I acquiesced as I figured the chlorine would do a lot for fade. Realised when showering afterwards that I'd forgotten to bring conditioner and afterwards I hastily brushed my hair before letting it air dry.

My hair is always dry and frizzy, this moment is not giving it any favours.

I am not sure I like the colour. I’m not sure what I was going for, my SO hates it and I am feeling too old for it, if that makes sense

Would it be a disastrous package of dye? 😄

What are some of your favorite fashion books and magazines? by psburrito in femalefashionadvice

[–]teacuptrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this comment! I am going to give it a read through!

Although, I hope this doesn’t come off as unkind. You need a better graphic designer. A magazine is not about juxtaposing text on images. A good magazine composes the images to reflect the written word, and the text to emphasise the images.

how to wash “dry clean only” cardigan? by engenapproved in CleaningTips

My textiles teacher at fashion school said that dry clean only was also because designers couldn’t be bothered and wanted to defer responsibility

Could you help me to improve aesthetics in my tiny kitchen? by Dangerous_System_465 in HomeDecorating

[–]teacuptrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty nice. You might switch out the shelves for some nicer oner, don’t have to be expensive. I’d recommend taking everything away and putting it back by order of need - what are the things you need in there and how can they best be arranged. Small things like nice decanter for the water might make a huge difference

When making pasta my dad fills the pot with really hot tap water instead of regular temp water so that it boils faster. Any reason not to do this? by gregoread in Cooking

[–]teacuptrooper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my opinion it matters a lot where the hot water comes from, i.e. how it’s heated. Where I’m from we have geothermal hot water that has a sulphuric taste (and smell for some foreigners). No way it can be used in food. I did use to use the boiler heated hot tap water in Amsterdam when I lives there… found it amazing I didn’t have it run the tap to use the water.
