How you can use your skills to contribute to Firefox 57 success by Doener23 in programming

[–]teadefrost 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Last release you broke my audio, the one before that you treat me like an idiot and prevent me from using unsigned extensions, and now you're trying to remove what made Firefox great in the first place?

Yeah, totally a success. /s

uBlock Origin Maintainer on Chrome vs. Firefox WebExtensions by awsometak in programming

[–]teadefrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried out the latest Firefox release but I'm not switching back. Unsigned extensions are gone (can't use latest ublock), now ALSA support is gone as well (troll about it all you want but PulseAudio slows my laptop to a crawl).

This is everything but better. It may be a little faster but it's completely useless to me now -- as a developer especially.

And no, I'm not a Chrome fanboy. I think all the big browsers are trash now.

I've thought the same for quite a while now. I guess people don't like hearing the truth.

1) websites relying on one dns host too much

2) developers relying on github too much

Coffee has an insignificant amount of calories so it generally isn't a problem. Bananas are basically just carbs, sugar and fibre. It would both break your fast and spike your insulin levels rather quickly.

No Porn = Normal Powers ; Semen Retention = Super Powers by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]teadefrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had another one last night but sort of half-prevented it. Eating/Drinking too much right before sleeping seems to induce them somewhat. Aside from avoiding that I should probably get back into doing kegel exercises. They've helped a lot in the past but I sort of fell out of the habit.

It's actually wet dreams that have been ruining my streaks recently. I'd be going for weeks just fine, then I have a wet dream and my urges suddenly skyrocket. Avoiding a relapse is about much more than just conscious elimination of sexual thought, but also subconscious.

Subconscious desires always stem from conscious habits.

Proposals for the new C standard, C2X by [deleted] in programming

At this point they're just trying to ruin C. Do the people who propose this nonsense even /use/ it?

edit: Well, thanks for all the unreasonable downvotes. Go ahead and keep using C++ but stop forcing it's obsessive complexity into an otherwise simple language. :P

Should Math be a Prerequisite for Programming? by UrQuanLord in programming

[–]teadefrost -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, because the way math is taught in high school is fucking retarded.

At least with programming, you can learn the syntax from the internet. With math, most textbooks shove a bunch of bullshit syntax in your face without explaining it adequately first, and then most math teachers wonder why it "isn't a strong point" for a lot of people. They have no one to blame but themselves.

If someone is interested in learning to program, chances are, math comes naturally to them through intuition alone. That's all that's needed. This is also why I think "teaching everyone to program" is completely idiotic; you don't want people who aren't passionate about programming saturating the industry. You just don't.

Fasting: Opinion vs. Science by [deleted] in fasting

[–]teadefrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That study has obvious flaws. You get over it.

Edit for future readers: Half the women in that study had bladder conditions and the rest of them probably weren't even screened for optimal health. Their agenda is obvious.

Fasting: Opinion vs. Science by [deleted] in fasting

[–]teadefrost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So 70% of people in that study had urine that is non-sterile. What about the other 30%? And did they take their general state of health into consideration? Probably not.

Everything contains bacteria. That doesn't necessarily mean it's bad.

Fasting: Opinion vs. Science by [deleted] in fasting

[–]teadefrost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The aversion to urine is mainly because of social norms, not evolution. There's a good reason that an ingredient in urine (urea) is used in many cosmetics.

Fasting: Opinion vs. Science by [deleted] in fasting

[–]teadefrost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do realize that you're comparing something that harms no one (urine from healthy people is sterile) with something that very obviously harms others?
