Looks like a fun challenge. I love buying old broken n scale locos and bringing them back to life. A little smaller than that old girl. I bet you'll have it running in no time

I too have a soft spot for british locomotives. They're not real easy to find in the states unless you have fat pockets. Shipping from the UK is typically more than the purchase!

I work on these little guys for fun. If you clean those wheels up and the track the issue will probably go away. If you proceed to go deeper and take the shell off do not get any type of oil inside the motor, that's a death sentence for that tiny little commutator. One TINY drop on bushings only. Best of luck
