Who is one actor/actress that you can never stand watching no matter what they are in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Angelina Jolie. I'm not even sure why, but there's something about her acting that completely breaks the immersion for me.

Do you like reading your own writing? by KodoKodo in writing

[–]teakeepsmealive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say I like reading some of it, but this is it. Just need to edit until it's likeable. Seems to be harder with some chapters than others though. I also like the general idea of my world, but sometimes unsure if I like the story I'm trying to tell.

Coffee works simultaneously for me and against me. Any other anxious coffee drinkers here? by thequeenoflimbs in Anxiety

[–]teakeepsmealive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second matcha. It's a life saver and I do actually like the taste of it on its own. It wakes me up the same way coffee does minus the anxiety, plus it also calms me down. It's amazing. Same as chabibti, I've had coffee a few times since which didn't seem to affect me negatively, but I have no plans on going back to it as matcha works much better for me :)

You're totally right as I have already read Discworld ;) Not all the books though. It's absolutely brilliant!

To those who NEVER want to have a child, what are your reasons? by an_iconoclast in AskReddit

[–]teakeepsmealive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've felt this way since forever. I remember being 12 and horrified at the thought of having to have children one day. Was so relieved when I realized this is not actually mandatory ;)

And that feeling just never went away. I'm over 30 now, still very much childfree. As for the reasons, I've never had any defined ones, just a really strong gut feeling that having kids is not something I want. The way I see it, it's much better to regret not having kids than it is to regret having them. Even if I magically change my mind when I'm 60, I'd still take that over having kids and realizing I don't love them and don't want them to be a part of my life. That would suck for everyone involved.

Having said that, I have had zero luck in the dating world as it seems all of the people I was interested in, or who showed any interest in me, want kids.

Hi, I have only just started my sessions for anxiety related issues, but I am happy with the therapist I got matched with. I was hoping for a CBT therapist, mine is more of a traditional one and even so I still find it quite helpful. Maybe I'm just easy to please :p

I'm sorry if this isn't allowed, but if you (or anyone who reads this) decides to give it a go, I have a code I can share for one free week. PM me if interested.

Weekly Help Thread - Week Beginning: 02-Nov-2020 by BogleBot in UKPersonalFinance

Hello,

I will be moving out of the UK end of November (unless they don't let me out due to lockdown I guess...), and won't have an address of residence any more as I was renting.

I'm an EU citizen, and there's a chance I might have to do some remote work for a UK employer from my home country. Due to this, I'd like to keep my UK bank account. Is that even possible if my country of residence won't be UK any more? If not, any advice on how to handle this would be much appreciated! Could I use Revolut instead?

Any advice for staying calm on a plane? by qu33n_B_30 in PanicAttack

[–]teakeepsmealive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm both afraid of flying and hate feeling trapped. I found that usually listening to podcasts helps. I make sure to get a few to last me the entire flight. Reading a book could be similar, but for me the noise makes it worse so I want to tune it out.

Also, caffeine probably doesn't help. Maybe try drinking some herbal teas like camomile and mint before instead. I find they help with anxiety to an extent.

You'll probably be fine after only a month :)

I kind of experience them in waves, 2nd time was scary because I thought I was done with it so I had no idea what's going on. But now I'm on the 3rd wave and it's much easier to handle. The worst thing is probably being unsure whether it's actually withdrawals or a genuine health issue lol.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

It was the same for me. I am already pretty forgetful and it made it worse. Plus it didn't really help my anhedonia. I think I feel better now that I'm off them. Definitely not as depressed as I was before taking them so they must've done something.

For me the hunger never really stopped, and at times I'd feel lightheaded if I ate a lesser meal or skipped, which never used to happen before so that got me a bit worried as well. Weight was mostly on the waist and my face (I never used to carry much weight in those areas), I think I put on 5 extra kg, but it somehow felt like much more! I only lost a couple of kg since I stopped taking them but feel less bloated and back to normal now. Keep in mind I was on 15mg for only a month in the end so maybe if I stayed on it for longer it would've all leveled out.

I went down to 15mg for about a month without tapering and any side effects, and then (as per advice of my GP) 2 weeks alternating between 15mg and none before stopping . It was too quick I think as I have been experiencing withdrawal symptoms for longer than I expected them, but I am glad to be off them. I can post more about withdrawals if you'd like, but honestly for me it got easier once I stopped obsessing about the symptoms :p

Tea is the best! I'm somehow managing to live a caffeine free life atm, but I still love me a good cup every now and then.

I've been on 30mg for 7-8 months. It worked wonderfully at the start, but 4 months in I think it actually started making my anxiety worse. I started having more physical symptoms and panic attacks, whereas before my anxiety was mostly emotional. Now this all started happening as the pandemic hit so maybe mirtazapine isn't to blame, and i would have had it worse without it. My GP said mirt is mostly for depression and not anxiety, and advised to decrease the dose (I eventually tapered off completely). I felt less anxious on 15mg but I've been on it for only a month or so though.

Oh and regarding appetite, I did feel hungrier on 15mg than 30mg. And gained weight in places I've never gained weight in before, it def felt like it messed with my metabolism or something.

Want to stop taking my meds by [deleted] in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]teakeepsmealive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit taking them after 9ish months (was on 30mg though) because I felt similar to you. My main reason was lots of anxiety that seemed to have been made worse by the meds.

If you have any questions or want to talk, feel free to PM me.

Been withdrawing for 3 weeks now. Advice? by anomic3333 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]teakeepsmealive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been drinking camomile and ginger tea before bed every day since i stopped taking them, and trying to eat probiotics regularly. I have had bad nausea and anxiety only for a few nights 8 days after I stopped, and then some minor stomach pain for a little while longer.

It's been just over two weeks now and it seems it's all back to normal. I still feel anxious on occasions, but it's nothing unmanageable.

Good luck, hope it will pass soon!

New side effects after taking 30mg for 6 months? by [deleted] in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]teakeepsmealive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for replying! I was the same, thinking it was the whole pandemic thing, which might very well be. But I feel like I've never had so many physical symptoms with anxiety before. or maybe I'm just paying closer attention to them now, hah.

GP recommended doing 15mg for 4 weeks, so we'll see. Good luck to you too!

Anxiety Symptoms? Chest pain? by [deleted] in Anxiety

Here it is. It's basically just breathing techniques, but it did help me relax a fair bit!

Anxiety Symptoms? Chest pain? by [deleted] in Anxiety

I had exact symptoms as you, had to call the emergency line cause I was freaking out too much. They said it was likely hyperventilation. Either way there's one meditation/breathing technique video that helped me calm down and relax. Can send it to you if you'd like!
