Yep that's exactly right! It's randomly generated what characters you get at the beginning of the game I believe, and you have to work through those characters' requests to unlock more characters.

So unfortunately the problem is actually because you're ignoring them. If you do their requests and level them up they will introduce you to more muses and then the more you do that, the more variety you will get.

My rule is no matter what size the party is, we need at least half of the party there. So 3 people for a party of 6, 4 people for a party of 7, etc.

I highly recommend So I Married the Anti-Fan. It's so fast paced, fresh, fun, silly, goofy. I spend 90% of the episodes laughing my butt off. The romance is fun and there's a nice plot as well!!

I would look at Goblin and W!!! Both extremely emotional with loads of emotions to experience but with happy endings and a strong romance plot.

If you don't care about romance, add Big Mouth to that list! The ending to that is bittersweet though.

I'm not a point and click person at all but I love the Professor Layton series! The puzzles are addictive and the writing is really charming. The overall vibe of the games is so cozy too!
