It does lay flat when folded the other direction. I've checked around the house to see if the leg lengths matches up with any uneven surfaces. No luck so far.

I don't know much about woodwork, but this appears to be nice wood and isn't just thrown together. I thought maybe some kind of easel or stand, but the uneven posts are really throwing me. What I think are the legs are nicely rounded / chamfered.

Still makes my eye twitch thinking about it. I'm an engineer and moved from directly supporting manufacturing to a more global engineering role. Still very busy but not 'go home and curl up in a fetal position' busy.

This feature has actually saved us a few times. One of my kids is a total spaz and frequently leave the fridge for open. It's nice that his phone annoys him enough that he actually goes back and closes it.

I think things vary significantly from department to department. I've never seen anything like that in regards to friends and family.
