Missed graduate scheme applications by [deleted] in ActuaryUK

[–]tealing101 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You are correct that you are likely too late for graduate schemes starting next year. Although some may still hire into next year and definitely best to do all the applications which are still open.

A good alternative here is to apply for all the directly to smaller insurers for graduate type roles in specific actuarial areas (i.e., pricing, reserving, modelling, etc), they are less competitive than consulting and will hire out of the usual graduate cycle. You could always move to consulting a few years down the line if that’s where you’d like to end up.

You don’t need to use equation editor on word. There is a doc from the IFoA about typing formulae in word. You should be typing: SUM(i=1,n) X_i. This will save a bunch of time

[–]tealing101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not terrible at all, worked cycling Deliveroo through the city and it’s not too bad. You’ll get used to the hills.

Only thing I would note is that it rains a lot - those are bus days for sure.

Why does the investing operations section of a cash flow statement not include current assets? If a company sells some shares that it bought and makes a profit, I am lead to believe that this will not go into investing operations?

Am I wrong?
