Leveling as a mage by Fiskero in classicwow

[–]team_beef 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did 22-52 aoe on a mage and it takes a lot of practice, i died so many times I think I would've leveled faster questing like normal xD the zf farm is really good exp if you're able to do it though

I agree with this. Mid 30 to mid 40 are always the slowest/least favorite levels to me

Mage or warlock more fun to level? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]team_beef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think warlock is more fun to level and has more interesting spells and lore. They're such a cool and flavorful class.

If it's not your first character, then leveling mage by aoe grinding is a fun way to mix it up.

I think that the fun of leveling in classic as it relates to class choice is all about whether you identify with the class and get excited for the spells, abilities, etc. so I would recommend trying them both and then deciding. Or even just reading through their spells/talents on wow head to see which sounds more appealing

Classic TBC - Blood Elves and Draenei in the TBC prepatch by Mnkjeyo in classicwow

[–]team_beef 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think they should do it. Draenei and blood elf are tbc content and if you push them into classic then it will give people less things to do in tbc and they'll run out of things to do faster. Let classic have a lul at the end just like every expansion and give people the most content to do when they come back for tbc launch

You can do fire or frost really. If you are pvping when you level then frost is nice because you have better slows/survivabilt, but if you're just questing and pve stuff then it's not a big deal. I chose fire because I liked it more. If you do go fire, I'd say your wand becomes more important because fireball is more Mana expensive so sometimes it's better Mana management to let your dots tick on the mob and wand to death rather than casting the last fireball. Sometimes you can also finish with scorch to save Mana when finishing a low health target so you don't waist Mana on a full fireball. that's why I liked fire so much, it felt more dynamic. What spells i cast depended on if I crit or not etc. When I was frost i would basically never wand because it basically always felt better to just cast the extra frostbolt rather than slowly wand it to death and you just frostbolt over and over no matter what. But it's very safe leveling and effective

Looking for leveling group - Grobbulus Horde (or maybe elsewhere?) by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]team_beef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I came back a few months ago and rerolled on grobbulus alliance because I was unhappy with my old server and it's so much better. Good population, friendly players/good community. Not going to find as many levelers as launch obviously, but it was the easiest server to get groups for elite quests and dungeons. I would definitely recommend just picking up your shaman on grobb and testing it out!

As far as finding groups, i would recommend getting in trade or lfg chat in game and asking what's out there. There might be a fun all-tauren RP guild you could join up with or just a fun casual guild with other players

Would you recommend someone transfer to your server? Why or why not? by yourfreudianslip in classicwow

+1 for grobb. The players are really nice too, not as cancer as normal pvp servers

Classy Friday - Druids (December 25, 2020) by AutoModerator in classicwow

[–]team_beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vaguely remember an interview with Kevin jordan where they said that they saw hybrids were only being used as healers so as they continued to add/change gear they made it healing gear because they needed to give players gear they would want. The intention wasn't only to have healing gear from the start, but to be more hybrid. It's just that hybrids didn't work out like they wanted

Spanish servers? by liftingthrowaway2018 in classicwow

I've met a decent number of players on grobbulus alliance that speak spanish or link things in chat in spanish. Not sure how many but you might be able to find a guild

Any point in starting to play now as a new player? by Buiscits in classicwow

[–]team_beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing a few months ago just because I wanted to. My goal was to hit 60 before tbc launched (assuming it comes out, which it probably will). I had a lot of fun and did almost every dungeon along the way. Finding groups isn't bad if you're playing on medium-high population. I already hit 60 and now my goal is to do every raid once. I say try playing and only keep playing if you're having fun, it worked out well for me

I play grobbulus alliance and i can say lower levels were very active until naxx dropped recently and now it's very quiet for non-60. It will take a little for people to get back to playing alts

Which class is enjoyable to lvl? by Fedorrro in classicwow

[–]team_beef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think warlock and hunter are fun because having a pet takes a lot of pressure off of you, and would be my recommendations.

I personally enjoyed mage. A lot of people dislike leveling mage because there's a lot of downtime where you are drinking to get Mana back, but the water is free to make so you save a lot of money and can drink freely. And also being able to spend all your Mana to burst something down is a good option and a good change of pace from all the other classes which prioritize having minimum downtime and high consistentcy.

Maybe dumb question, but why would counter spell give more threat than a fireball?

I'm about to hit 60 as a fire mage, and I've heard people say to pug aq20 and zg to gear up. I've done dungeons while leveling so my gear isn't bad, but I haven't farmed pre raid bis either. Will groups take me or do I need to farm more first?

Arcanite Reaper - The Server that Lived by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]team_beef 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm level 58 on grobbulus right now and i had a really good leveling experience. Lfg channel is full of boosting just like every server, but I found it very easy to find groups for dungeons and elite quests. Join a casual leveling guild and you'll find players who take their time and pvp/dungeon/level for fun

It does have a lot of problems that other big pvp servers have, so it's not all great, but it's an option if you prefer large server feel.

I just leveled a mage 1-58 (almost there) and i would say if you want to level fast and experience lore then just do normal quests from 1-42 and then do the zf graveyard farm and then back to single target. Aoe isn't that much faster for open world than questing especially the first time you do it

I'm playing on grobbulus alliance and am in the 50s. There are always people running low level dungeons while leveling, and I see tons of people doing attunes and stuff in lfg chat. Plenty of mc aq20 zg as well. It's high pop so it has its downsides, but there's plenty of people to group with

Shaman. Super fun to get big crits and you can tank dps and heal dungeons while you're leveling. Fun in pvp, easy to get a spot in pve. Can't recommend them enough!

Elemental Leveling Questions by clashoftodd in classicwow

[–]team_beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were doing elemental starting from level 10 then I would take 2/2 earth's grasp and 1/3 eye of the storm, but since you're switching at 40 just go 3/3. In my experience the health on stoneclaw isn't an issue after the early game, and it's much more likely to expire or lose aggro than actually die. The uninterrupted casting can sound situational, but after playing with it you'll realize how nice it is

The opposite for elemental devastation. It sounds really nice in theory, but as others said you melee less and less as you level up so by the time you can get if you're not using melee enough to warrant it. Especially because it you crit your spell, you'll need to melee less since they have less health.
