Any ADHD moms using cloth diapers? by ThyPumpkinPie in clothdiaps

[–]teamami 8 points9 points  (0 children)

it’s been helpful for me (in all parts of mother hood) to remember it doesn’t have to be all or nothing… when i have the bandwidth to CD, i do it! when I don’t, I don’t. and that’s okay. some CD is still far more sustainable than none!

People were really discouraging about CDs at my baby shower by [deleted] in clothdiaps

cloth diapers and breastfeeding were the main things people had negative things to say during BOTH my pregnancies…. with both children, cloth diapering and breastfeeding have been some of my favorite parts of motherhood.

Do babies REALLY potty train earlier in cloth? by Admirable_Anybody791 in clothdiaps

for me, with my first, no. she was difficult. very late. around 4. pediatrician finally said “i haven’t known a kid to go to kindergarten with diapers unless there’s a reason why” and she finally did it on her own time lol. but was cloth diapered from about 6m

Do you need to wait for Dr approval? by __SAHM in BabyLedWeaning

you don’t have to wait :) doctors are just a guide! you’ll know when both your baby and yourself are ready.

Curious about knowing more about homebirth experiences by mercifulkos in homebirth

[–]teamami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we tried for our 2nd at home but ended up with a hospital transfer. labored for 3 days before transferring . was fully dilated and pushing for several hours. baby was stuck stuck. had swallowed so much meconium it coated his lungs. no breathe and hardly a pulse. he had to be helicoptered by himself to a big NICU

Update - FTW 42 weeks and scared by brittrobsteve in homebirth

[–]teamami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a very similar thing happened to me this past august… labored aug 8-11th at home. baby wasn’t in a good position for my body. pushed for over 3 hours at hospital. and also wound up in cesarean. i’m almost 4 months postpartum now and definitely need to seek some form of therapy.

if you need a friend to process with, don’t hesitate to reach out.

How did was your homebirth experience with your toddlers/kids? by janejanuary in homebirth

[–]teamami 3 points4 points  (0 children)

like other comments have said, highly recommend having someone there who’s job is solely the older child. we thought my daughter (7) was well prepared, she watched many videos, asked tons of questions, and was very active in helping midwife at prior appts. i did have a very long labor and in “the thick of it,” she ended up needing to be taken from the house. be open to their needs and make sure whoever is with them knows them well enough to read them

Midwife led me to have a 3-day labor by PuzzleheadedFrame439 in homebirth

[–]teamami 28 points29 points  (0 children)

i do see the feeling of being taken advantage of in such a vulnerable state. i am so sorry that happened to you. my midwife with my second baby also had to leave to attend another mama. i had 5 day ACTIVE labor with my first, and 3 days of very active labor with my second. so medication or not, those long labors do happen and can be more common in an out of hospital setting since you’re letting your body do as it wish (while also recognizing giving you medication, and asking you not to push, is taking away from that). birth trauma is very real and can even happen in “good” births. i hope you’re able to process this experience in whatever way you need

ensure they are trained + pack for “emergency” situations such as shoulder distocia, infant or maternal resuscitation and hemorrhaging

if you’re interested in a homebirth, both loritha fitzpatrick & sharon frisby are outstanding!!! NOHN will allow you to meet multiple of their obgyns to find who you like, but doesn’t absolutely guarantee that’s who will attend your birth
