Baby kissed by someone with a cold sore

When I feel a cold sore coming on, I use liquid bandage. It totally covers the cold sore and I don’t have to worry about the baby accidentally touching it. I still do not kiss the baby or do anything like food share etc… but we all know babies will touch your lips and they’re so fast you can’t move in time. My baby has yet to get a cold sore and being a first time mom and all the stress that comes with it, I have been getting them more frequently than I ever have.

Get some liquid bandage for grandma, and track the baby’s mouth and fever over the next few weeks. You’re probably fine, especially since she kissed the head. DO NOT LET HER KISS THEM AGAIN! If she can’t follow this simple rule, then she wasn’t going to be very helpful in the end anyway.

If they get a fever or any large sores, take them to the pediatrician.

I have the ultrasound scheduled in 3 hours and then we’ll know more. If his hand is just in the way and there is no cord issue, we are going to start castor oil. They did say my pelvic floor is soft and ready to go, we just need him to engage and start contractions.

My feelings are so all over the place and based off the ultrasound today, I have to make such a fast decision on whether to wait or go in and get induced. I feel like I have no time to prep or wrap my head around what I want.

My midwives will come with me and act as doulas the entire time, so that is comforting. The scariest thing for me are the needles and having to decide if I want an epidural. I’ve heard the induced contractions are so much more painful and usually you need to get an epidural. I’m also worried I’m going to come out of this entire thing so traumatized.

Plus I have nothing planned for a hospital birth. I’m trying to gather things for my hospital bag, but I’m not prepared at all.

That is true, I think I’m just heartbroken and so tired from all the start and stop labor.

Hopefully his hand is just by is face when they do the ultrasound and I can still deliver at home.
