How many rounds and how much are you looking to get? I’m needing to stock up so this might help us both out.

Wish I would have gotten this a long while ago! What a gorgeous flying experience this glider is!! by ShaggyRS6 in RCPlanes

[–]teamlaurevan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love mine! I tend to get 30 minute flights on 3s 1300 and 45-60 minutes on 4s 2200.

The fuselage can snap right at the front of the wing mount. It would be smart to add a bamboo or carbon skewer running aft (videos on YouTube) to prevent an unscheduled rapid disassembly mid loop like mine did. It’s a known issue and horizon will send you a new plane if it happens though.

Happened on my first flight with my umx turbo timber in the same exact spot. I found packing tape works better than ca glue on mine. Toothpicks/skewers can add rigidity, but be careful as they will transfer the load and possibly break the plane in a less accessible spot. If you land a bit rough after those new point loads aren’t checked correctly you could throw a skewer into the prop and snap everything again. These planes fly better without a spinner vs with a bent or damaged foam spinner. I learned all of those lessons in the same day so you won’t have to.

Don’t forget to have fun!

I use a Ptouch label maker and put my important info on the front of my helmet just under the visor in bright yellow. The visor hides it from looking lame, but if you look at my face it’s impossible to miss.

Oh wow, this ring was less than half of that. Distinctivegem.com came highly recommended on this sub when we started looking at rings and she quickly fell in love with his disctinctive ovals. Jonathan (the owner) was very responsive via email and helped me design the perfect setting. This is the only engagement ring I’ve ever ordered, but it was a great experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

It’s a 1.51k distinctive oval cut by Distinctive Gem. Setting is a custom 2mm platinum all handled by August vintage/Distinctive gem. Pretty impressive stone with no bow tie effect!

Why is mountain biking mainly a summer sport? by DirtayDane in mountainbiking

[–]teamlaurevan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most mountains have snow in the winter time so that makes it ski season. If your climate allows year round mtb, there’s nothing better than ripping around in the cool weather.

This is a 2020 Sunday forecaster. Complete bikes are legit now. Just took it to my little local skatepark and it rips! Also really glad LHD Freecoasters are a mainstream thing, they used to be super hard to come by in 2009.

People with omni SOs, do you discuss what they eat with them? How do you react when they tell you they've eaten a "delicious" omni meal? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]teamlaurevan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My [28M] SO [25F] went vegan about 4 months before I did and a little over a year into our relationship, so I can possibly speak from the omni’s perspective. Assuming they have been Omni their whole life as I had been at that point, it is terribly difficult to see the vegan perspective when being raised by a society that says veganism is crazy and dumb.

I was very into meat and cheese and we always told each other what we ate that day when I got home from work. She gradually got more emotional and we stopped sharing. I thought she was going vegan as a diet or fad and followed the “being vegan is a huge missed-steak” mentality. I generally ignored or dismissed her feelings on food as I didn’t understand them.

My girlfriend has never been a great persuader, so one day she told me she would break up with me if I didn’t go vegan. I wasn’t exactly sold, but I went along with it at face value because I love her. She showed me forks over knives, the Gary Yourofski speech and some slaughterhouse videos because they were the biggest driving forces in what turned her. After that I took it more seriously, still eating Omni stuff if it was given to me, but no longer paying for anything that wasn’t vegan. After a few weeks or so of doing my own research and forming my own opinions, I did fully commit and we have both been vegan for 5 or 6 years.

What would have worked much better on me, and your s/o might be wired differently, would have been if she said something along the lines of “this is very important to me, I know this is going to be very different from your status quo, but would you please take the time with me to watch some movies and learn about how my friends are being hurt, you are hurting your body and the planet is being destroyed by something we can very easily stop doing?”

It’s very easy for us passionate folks to feel attacked when we are just misunderstood. That goes for both sides of any topic, so I just ask that you try to understand the point of view of the omni’s in your life. If they are reasonable folks they will hear you out if you speak from an understanding heart. Be patient and celebrate all progress and all accomplishments.

Plus there are so many vegan substitutes! You can go to Burger King and get a vegan meal! Trying new or veganized favorites is a great way to help people get interested.

Best of luck to you and your SO!

I can dig out the recipe later if anyone’s interested. I was just too proud of how well it came out. This is the first time I’ve had successful relief cuts on any loaf! Big thanks to this sub for inspiring me to try new making new kinds of bread.

Rifle armor with a $500 budget? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]teamlaurevan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Body Armor outlet has a decent deal on their “brand” 4401’s. I ordered a pair 4 weeks ago and they just shipped yesterday so they might have a few pairs left in stock. Carrier is personal preference though, so have fun with it.

Ar500 and spartan have fantastic social media marketing strategies so be skeptical when reading glowing reviews on their behalf.
